Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Especially when it comes to twenty-four year old, Harnaam Kaur. From first glance, many would believe Harnaam to be a male, but contrary to what you see -- she's a woman like the rest of us. You're probably wondering, how can a woman have so much facial hair? Well before you jump to conclusions, Harnaam suffers from polycystic ovarian syndrome which she has had since birth. From the ripe age of ten years old, she began growing facial hair and had at one point in time saw it as a negative and had very low self-esteem. In an interview with Rock n Roll Bride she says, "I used to have my face waxed 2 to 3 times a week, and on the days I couldn't bare the pain I would simply shave." Like most kids in school, Harnaan was constantly bullied because of her appearance and at contemplated taking her own life on several occasions. Although growing up was rough, she eventually decided to turn a negative into a positive and see the beauty in herself that others couldn't seem to notice. "I decided to keep my beard and step forward against society's expectations of what a woman should look like," she said. Harnaam's confidence is extremely beautiful and is an amazing reminder to all women how we should appreciate all our flaws, no matter what they happen to be.
When you look in the mirror and see something you don't particularly like about yourself, think about Harnaam's story and remember just how beautiful you are, flaws and all. She says, "My beard has 100% become a part of my body. It is the source of my strength and confidence," she said. "I keep my hair to show the world a different, confident, diverse and strong image of a woman. . . . I look at it and is it a sign to me that we are all different and none of us are born the same." Allow these images and Harnaam's positivity to resonate with you. You are more than your flaws.
