"Your Lie in April" is the English name.

Piano prodigy Arima Kosei dominated the competition and all child musicians knew his name. But after his mother, who was also his instructor, passed away, he had a mental breakdown while performing at a recital that resulted in him no longer being able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing was perfectly fine. Even two years later, Kosei hasn't touched the piano and views the world in monotone, and without any flair or color. He was content at living out his life with his good friends Tsubaki and Watari until, one day, a girl changed everything. Miyazono Kaori is a pretty, free spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her personality. Kaori helps Kosei return to the music world and show that it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigid style Kosei was used to.

Status: Completed (22 Episodes)

Where do I even begin with this one...? One of the most emotional and aesthetically amazing animes in a looong time. All about music prodigies with amazing backgrounds. I haven't watched too many musical genre animes, but this one is a MUST-WATCH. The songs are beautiful, the story is interesting (which I really didn't expect to be), and so many emotions are involved in each episode. I normally don't cry (not this much), but this anime will most certainly mess with your emotions. It's really a story that men and women can all enjoy to the fullest.

All the characters display their own unique talents. Kosei (protagonist) is your typical nice and shy anime boy with a traumatic past which leads him to discover a whole new side of music. Kaori is the reason Kosei is able to overcome that trauma and play the piano again. As mentioned above, she is funny and free-spirited and of course is amazing at playing the violin. The supporting characters all have their own charm and you may find a favorite character between them instead of Kosei and Kaori.

-Unique Features-

Let's start with the obvious one, music. It is a musical anime so it's no surprise that it has beautiful soundtrack. However, that's not the only feature it has. The story, as I said before, it's heartwarming. The characters are all charming in their own way. The animation is just heavenly gorgeous (Yes, it's that good). It has a lot of hilarious moments as well, and the pattern is:
"They have a serious moment and all of a sudden they joke around" and they do this every time so expect a funny moment after a serious talk.
It will really put your emotions to the test. In every episode, you will be able to feel what the characters are feeling. You might even feel something you haven't felt before. I dare you to watch this without crying at least once.

I will only talk about the openings and endings and let you discover the so many beautiful music inside the anime. The openings gives you an incredible level of euphoria. There's no other way of explaining this feeling, you can just never be sad while listening to the opening. The endings are soothing, heartwarming and relaxing with angelical voices. Both sides are perfection which is hard to find nowadays.

If you want to know more about the songs:

Well, there you go! I have so much to write about this one but I think that's enough (even though it's like barely 10% of my thoughts). This really is a master-piece and a Must-Watch for anyone. There are not many musical animes out there so venture into a new beautiful world starting with this one. I can safely say you won't be disappointed! Hope You Enjoy!~

For those who want to be tagged or removed from the list just let me know~

Just started it tonight and I love it so far. I'm a musician so I can really relate to this. Can't wait to finish it
