Hey everyone! This is going to be my first "quick intro" card!
Rather than a review, each card is going to be a reaction to the first episode or two of an anime I haven't watched before! I won't give away the plot, but I'll try to give an idea of if I think the anime is worth continuing or not!
I wrote about this anime in my Fall 2015 anime card, but I decided to give it a try! Let me just tell you up front that each episode is literally only 3 minutes and 30 seconds long so you're really not wasting any time giving this one a try!
In Japanese, “JK” is an abbreviation for “joshi kousei”, or high school girl, and “meshi” means “cooked rice” or “meal”, so it is only suitable that the anime focuses on 3 high school girls, Reina, Ryoka, and Ruriko, who have mastered the art of cooking simple, B-class dishes called JK meshi.
Status: ongoing, Fall 2015 release
What's the plot style?
I've watched two episodes of this anime, and I'll basically tell you that there is no plot.
Seriously! The only plot is basically that these 3 girls need to study and they need to eat and they're going to teach you useful things while they study and then they're going to teach you how to cook so you can eat.
Should I Watch It?
All the reviews on Crunchyroll say "don't waste your time."
I disagree. I like food preparation, it's only 3 minutes long, and it's kind of nice to hear the basic "study facts" you're taught about the day's lesson plus the ingredients of the dishes. I mean, who doesn't want to learn that olive oil doesn't just make you fat, it actually might help you lose weight in the right amounts?
That being said, it's nothing overly impressive as far as voice acting, animation style, or plot goes, so my recommendation is...
If you like food and are down to learn some really simple recipes, spare the 3 minutes and watch this show!
Here's the first episode with subs!
If you're interested in watching more (there's only two episodes out now), they're on Crunchyroll ^^
I'll work hard to make sure this isn't a full review, but rather, an introduction to shows that I am just starting, too ^^ I don't want to include spoilers (thanks for this warning @KyleSearl and the support @EduardoPontier). Each card will be a quick intro like this one that let's people decide for themselves if they want to check it out!
