Plátanos Calados (Plantains with Brown Sugar Syrup)
These are super sweet and easy to make. With this recipe, you're going to need plantains that are very ripe -- almost black in color. Ripe plantains will add sweetness, along with the brown sugar syrup.

What You'll Need:

2 ripe plantains (chopped in large chunks)
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of water
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 tablespoon of butter

How To Make It:

1) In a small pot add all of your ingredients.
2) Cover and cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes.
3) Serve with cheese (optional).

I have, @alywoah! The first time I had it was when I was a little girl and ate at my Cuban friend Vanessa's house. I was a really little kid, so I thought platano looked kind of weird like a bad banana, but man, once I had it, I was like PLATANOS ARE THE BESTTTT.
