Over the past year we have seen Hip-hop artists and classical Orchestras connect for live shows. This makes a lot of sense, as most rap songs feature numerous layers of production.
Yesterday the rap world got a treat, as Kendrick Lamar linked with National Symphony Orchestra for a live performance in D.C.
The rapper worked his way through expansive versions of a number of songs from To Pimp A Butterfly, including favorites like "King Kunta," "Alright," "i," and "These Walls."
The performance was the kick off of Kendrick Lamar's "Kunta Groove Sessions." The Groove Sessions tour is a series of eight shows in eight intimate venues, featuring Jay Rock and The Wesley Theory.
Sadly this is the only date announced with the live orchestra. Hopefully we get to see a glimpse of this during a live show on television soon.
