The Louisville Cardinals are in the midst of one of the biggest scandals in the history of their program.
Five former University of Louisville players and recruits told ESPN's Outside the Lines that they attended parties at a campus dorm from 2010 to 2014 that included strippers paid for by graduate assistant coach Andre McGee.
The allegations have been detailed in a book, "Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen," published this month by self-described former escort Katina Powell.
In the book, Powell shares details about some of her trips on the Louisville campus. Powell told Outside the Lines in an extensive interview that, in addition to paying her $10,000 for supplying dancers during the time period, McGee also supplied cash for "side deals," which included sex with some recruits, guardians who accompanied them on visits and some Louisville players.
Pitino says it's time for McGee to step up and share the truth on this story.
"He's the only one with any answers. Whether it's true or not, I don't know. ... Everything else is absurd. I don't care about the legal issues. If he's done something wrong, he has to own up to it and do his penance," said coach Pitino.
Lets hope this gets cleared up soon, as the only people that will be hurt by this past scandal is current and future players of the program.
Yeah, it's a damn shame because Pitino has built a great program there and it's likely going to fall apart. Just look at what happened to Gary Barnett and the Colorado football program after they had a similar scandal back in 2004. He hasn't had a coaching job since.
@KyleBerke I def agree with you. It's really disappointing to see these great programs fall apart because of these scandals
Wow...what a shame. They had a great program....
