During the late 1930s in Chicago, the transcontinental train, Flying Pussyfoot, is starting its legendary journey that will leave a trail of blood all over the country. At the same time in New York, the ambitious scientist Szilard and his unwilling aide Ennis, are looking for missing bottles of the immortality elixir. In addition, a war between the mafia groups is getting worse. On board the Advena Avis, in 1711, alchemists are about to learn the price of immortality.
Based on the award winning light novels of the same name, this anime adaptation follows several events that initially seem unrelated, both in time and place, but are part of a much bigger story - one of alchemy, survival and immortality. Merging these events together are the kindhearted would-be thieves, Isaac and Miria, connecting various people, all of them with their own hidden ambitions and agendas, and creating lifelong bonds and consequences for everyone involved.

Status: Completed (13 Episodes + 3 Specials)

You could even say that there is no story in this. However, it will still get you hooked because of HOW the story is told. The story is told in the style of "How I Met Your Mother" and is pretty short but it will leave you amazed. It has action, mystery, romance, comedy, etc. It basically has all the genres in one anime. I'm always trying to find new animes (even though I did watch this long time ago) with an intriguing story or that tries to to something new and unique that other animes don't do, and Baccano didn't disappoint and will not to future viewers.

There is no protagonist in this story. So many characters and each one of them has their own story to tell. I said that Baccano has every anime genre in it, and each genre is depicted by a character. You could even call the characters by genre instead of their names. They are all charming and there's a character for each and every anime lover. They all have their own stories but fate will make all of them come together at the end.

-Unique Features-

First of all, as I mentioned before, the storytelling is one of the best out there with the style of "How I Met Your Mother". Also, because every character has their own story to tell and are the depiction of every genre, it's like you're watching multiple animes at once. But if I had to pick a main genre, it's probably a psychological / mystery anime. You will end up attached to the characters and the anime itself. I could go on and on about the reasons why that will happen, but i'll leave that for you to discover.

The songs in here are as unique as the anime. The opening song is something you can always enjoy in a jazz club and I just can't get enough of it. It has no lyrics but it doesn't need it, plus the introduction of each character makes you even more curious about them. On the other hand, I always cry when I listen to the ending song as it feels like the characters that I ended up getting attached to are saying goodbye and obviously because the episode is over. You can imagine how I was when the anime actually ended.
I just can't believe so many people haven't watched Baccano or even heard of it. This is the original creation of those who created "Durarara!!". Issac and Miriam even make an special appearance in one of Durararas episodes and I was so happy, but sadly, not many people understood the reference. Baccano is THE most under-rated and best hidden-gem anime out there. A Must-Watch Anime with great and unique storytelling and characters.
Hope You Enjoy!~
