2015 blessed us with a great hip-hop biopic for N.W.A. titled "Straight Outta Compton" which has left fans across the globe hungry for more.
While there are plenty of great musicians in the hip-hop community who's story has yet to be told on the big screen, one that everyone wants to see is a biopic for Tupac. It seemed as if our prayer was answered as Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett Furla Oasis teamed up to handle the film, but things have come to a stall in a big way.
According to reports, one production company attached to the project has filed a lawsuit against another over the production of the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emmett Furla Oasis is seeking $10 million in damages from Morgan Creek Productions for allegedly exceeding the agreed upon production budget and casting the lead without proper consultation.
Things began to flare up between the two after the release of "Straight Outta Compton." as Morgan Creek required they prove they were able to pay their half of the film’s budget, which, a month later, Morgan Creek projected would exceed $34 Million. Emmett/Furla, citing a violation of the initial agreement, refused.
Sadly, it seems as if we won't get the film until the budgeting and cast issues are sorted out. This is a great opportunity to tell the story of a great man, hopefully these two companies get this fixed before it's too late.
