My husband got this for me free from a co-worker. It was filthy covered in cup marks on the top parts. The hardware to secure the mirror was missing. My husband used lathe screws it's very secure now! I cleaned it sanded it lightly with a fine grit sanding block first. The original stain was dark so I then used 2 coats of Shallac on it. Two coats of Anne Sloan Old White Chalk Paint. Next I distressed edges other places where natural wear would occur. Then a coat of Anne's clear wax all over. Then the dark wax here and there for the "dirty effect"! Next I used "rub n buff" in antique gold for the hardware. I tried many polishes nothing worked. The doilies were a contest winner gift. The lamp, brush jewelry holders were consignment finds! The candle holders from a garage sale for a dollar! I think it's great just what I wanted!
Thanks!!! I love it & can't wait to get all the drawers filled with makeup & skincare products!!!
