Add some bright, neon colors to your home or apartment with these neon animal pushpins. It's a great way to upcycle old plastic animal toys that you might have lying around. This DIY tutorial comes from the creative people at A Bubbly Life.
For this project, you will need:
-- Plastic animal toys (if you don't already have some, they are pretty cheap at toy store or online)
-- Primer paint
-- Neon paint (make sure it works on plastic)
-- Hot-glue gun and hot-glue sticks
-- Thumbtacks of pushpins
You can find the majority of these items at a craft store.
Prime and paint the animals
Use the paintbrush to cover the animals in primer. Let the primer dry completely. Then, use a clean paintbrush to cover the entire animals in neon paint. You may need to do a few coats of paint to really make the colors pop. Let the paint completely dry in between each coat of paint.
Glue on the thumbtacks
Use the hot-glue gun to attach the thumbtacks or pushpins to one side of the plastic animals. Let the glue dry completely. Use caution when using a hot-glue gun!
Stick your animal pushpins in your cork board and enjoy!
