La Viudita, The Woman With No Face
It was 1921 in Bolivia when José Montiel passed away. He laid in his deathbed, properly groomed. As his life slipped from his body, his wife shook the room with her painful screams. He died a natural death, overwhelmed with anger that caused his body to fail. His widow envisioned a full life with him, wrinkled in age, and still together in the magic of love. La Viudita, the widow of Montiel was burried in loneliness and spent her nights stalking the dead of the dark, completely covered in black clothing. She creepily swayed behind the shadows, watching the air fill with drunk men and scrambled inhibitions. When the clocked ticked deeper into the night, she'd crawl from alley and riddled the streets with her darkness and charm. She watched a man hold on to a pole in front of a pub, as the stars and moon spun quickly around him. Her movements were slow, but his head was heavy with the fast-moving earth. La Viudita walked over to the drunk man and invites him over to her home. He stumbles to her and is fascinated by her covered beauty and blood-red lips. "Come to my home, I will take care of you." "I cannot see your face, but your voice is beautiful." "I'll uncover my veil later. Come with me." The man and La Viudita walked arm-in arm, through shadowed alleys that squirmed with rats and the smell of death. As they approached closer to the widow's home, the drunk man moves closer to the woman. He wraps her in his arms, and plants a kiss on her red lips. The widow smiles and her eyes turn coal-black. "Come inside," she says. The home was small, with the smell of rotting flesh stabbing through the walls. Her dead husband's remains laid in agony on their bed. Her dead husband's eyes had been pitted by maggots, and his skin bruised -- slipping from his decaying bones. The woman had dressed the home with incense to bury his flesh. "Show me your face," the drunk man tells La Viudita. "As you wish," she responds and she pulls the veil from her face. The drunk gentleman was so frightened by her hideous face, he immediately fainted. She had no eyes, hair, or face. Her skin dragged, marked in fresh bruises. Her loose teeth chopped in laughter as she saw the man lay on the ground. The next day, the drunk man found himself laying outside in a puddle of blood and stink. It is rumored that she has no face because she had made a deal with the devil after her husband's passing.
Awake - Chapter 1
"Y/N, wake up", mother said as she vigorously shook me out of my deep sleep. "Let's get going Y/N this is the last chance you'll get to make any last minute revisions for your dress." Overjoyed for her daughter's wedding, like any mother would be. "I'll be down in a minute, mom" tired from the sleepless nights I've been having these past few weeks. "It-It's near" I though  to myself, butterflies forming in my stomach for the billionth time. "Shake off the doubts Y/N" repeating it in a whisper hoping no one would hear me. Mother's head turning in a matter or seconds. "Did you say something?". "Ahh....nothing, a shower I-I need to take a quick shower" you managed to say with half a forced smile. Hoping she would buy what you were saying. "Okay well, your father and I will be waiting downstairs to eat breakfast. Don't take long" with the sweetest smile plastered on her face. She walked out from your room, you sat at the edge of your messy bed. Dropping your body feet dangling on the edge of the bed, facing the ceiling decorated with a clear glass chandelier. Surrounded by expensive clothes scattered around the floor. "Nothing but the best for my little Y/N" is what your father always said every single time you would ask for anything. You laid there contemplating the chandelier like it had the answers to all your problems. Suddenly a vibration coming from your nightstand brought you back to reality. Lazily dragging yourself to pick up the phone to see 10 missed calls 5 new messages. Emediately opening one in particular. Yoongi Is the future Mrs. Min up yet?? Yoongi Don't forget our date today, I've been looking forwards to it for days Yoongi Since you know I barely get to see you due to work. Y/N Ash...I wish we had more time like we use to ^_^ Yoongi Soon you'll have me all to yourself, who knows you might even grow tired of me... Y/N Pabo that would never happen...ever :3 Yoongi Okay okay joking I was only joking, well I have to get back to work Yoongi Can't afford to get fired if I want to keep daddy's little girl happy, right? Slightly laughing at what you just read. Y/N I'm not like that -_- ... you know that lol. See you later alright <3 Yoongi Yea sure lol You nodded in disapproval of his reply. Yoongi Bye. Yoongi Princess <3 "Hmm..strange" raising a suspicious look towards your phone, yoongi usually calls. "I guess he's  just been to busy to call" you brushed it off and rushed for a quick shower.
Blueberry Pie
Blueberry Pie by The Wynn Brothers Copyright © 2014 Pretend Pictures Inc. When Charlie awoke and stumbled through the hall, the windows were still dark as night, but he could sense the morning sun about to break through. Arriving in the kitchen, he saw his wife, Emily, digging through the cabinet. “What time is it?” he asked. “Oh, good morning,” she said, twisting to look at the clock on the wall. “It’s five fifteen.” “What happened with the meeting?” Emily should have been an hour down the road by now, halfway to an annual meeting with one of her biggest clients. Instead, she was leaning against the kitchen counter in her pajamas, holding a jar of blueberries. “I didn’t want to go,” she said. Charlie recognized that look on her face. She had something very important to say. “What’s going on?” he asked. “Nothing. I just wanted to stay home with you.” “Well, I’m flattered,” Charlie said, dryly, “but what about Henshaw?” “Don’t worry about them,” she said, seeming to have no time for anything outside of the immediate moment. “I want to make a pie.” “A pie?” “Yeah, like we used to.” “Should I be worried?” he said, as he watched her collecting ingredients. She didn’t answer. “Are you pregnant?” “No, I just want us to talk, and spend some time together.” “Is Gerald okay with you canceling the meeting?” “Don’t worry about the meeting.” “Okay.” He knew whatever she had to say was important, and he couldn’t drag it out of her any faster by continuing to ask. So, he pulled up the sleeves of his pajamas and grabbed a mixing bowl from the cabinet. Looking over the ingredients laid out on the counter did bring back fond memories. Step by step, they followed the recipe, with her stealing a kiss here and there, bumping her hip into him, and wrapping her arms around him as he mixed the batter. All of this had his mind racing. Was she about to announce that she had gotten a big promotion? In the warmth of the heat rising from the oven as Charlie removed the pie, their lips met for a final kiss. The first glimpses of daylight were peering through the windows now, and he was feeling a subtle tug to get ready for work and to get their daughter Caitlyn ready for school. “It’s time to buy the boat,” Emily said. Charlie was relieved. “That’s what this was all about?” It had been his dream to buy his own boat and give tours of the nearby islands. He could see that she was actually serious. “Well . . . that would be great,” he said, “but we don’t have the money for it . . . or the time.” “Sure you do,” she said. “If you quit your job and jump into it full speed, you could have it up and running in a few months.” “Whoa, whoa, whoa . . . quitting my job? Where’s this coming from?” “It’s time for you to be happy.” “I’m happy,” he said, looking her in the eye and trying to sound convincing. She looked him right back. “You’re not happy at work,” she said. “Who’s happy at work?” he replied. She shook her head at this lame excuse. “You’re not going to go in to work today, anyway. So, I want you and Cait to sit down, enjoy this pie, and think about it.” “I’m not going in to work, today?” “You deserve to be happy,” she said. “That’s all that’s important to me, now.” “I don’t know,” he said. “That’s a big decision, and we—” “I’ll be out there on the water,” Emily said, “waiting for both of you.” Just then, the doorbell sounded. Charlie woke to find himself in bed. He heard the doorbell again and made his way through the house to answer it. Standing on the front step was an officer with the worst news imaginable. He informed Charlie that his wife had been in a car accident on her way to the meeting. She was killed instantly. After twenty minutes of the officer consoling him, Charlie staggered back into the kitchen, where Caitlyn stood, fresh from bed—hair a mess, pajamas wrinkled, the picture of innocence. He scooped her up and held her for a silent moment. “You’re not going to school, today,” he whispered, as a tear rolled down his cheek. “Mommy wants us to make a pie.” www.WynnBrothers.com If you enjoyed this story, please like, share, and comment.
Winter's Rose - a beautiful poem
Winter’s Rose by The Wynn Brothers Copyright © 2014 Pretend Pictures Inc. ————1———— Spring saw her birth Summer saw her grow Autumn robbed the Earth And covered her in snow The trees have lost their leaves As torrid winds have blown Taken by Fallen thieves As fleeing birds have flown She's left with the unknown To forage, to find, and to earn This Winter she's alone Many lessons she will learn The past is left behind Washed clean by the sweeping snow New treasures she'll find  New life she'll soon know Be it good, be it bad She'll face it all on her own Be it happy, be it sad She'll reap what she has sown Though she appears lost She is now free Her childhood was the cost But a woman she’ll soon be I know I'll see her when the snow disappears I know I'll see her when the birds return This is the prayer flowing through my tears This is the destiny for which I yearn  —————2———— An angel not yet with wings A hunter awaiting her first kill She's the song nature sings The fate of man at her will When she learns to play her part Then she'll dazzle and shine She'll win the world's heart Just as she has mine She will need patience She will need a strong will She will need a sixth sense To survive Winter's long chill Winter had only one rule She'd need to master it to survive Wisdom without focus is a fool Only purpose keeps you alive —————3————— She's not what she seems She's not what they say She haunts my dreams She poisons my day She has struck down many men They have been powerful and Great She can turn blessing to sin She can decide your fate She's the Winter's Rose But not a rose at all She's more than anyone knows She can make the greatest fall Alexander knows her name He conquered the world and wept Then she extinguished his flame And forevermore he slept Her beauty they easily see That's their first mistake She's more than they want her to be  A closer look they should take She is God’s greatest gift As are they all Civilization is hers to lift Without her it will fall www.WynnBrothers.com If you enjoyed this story, please like, share, and comment. Pareshan ho ke meri khak aakhir dil na ban jaye
The main theme of this ghazal is love. Allama Iqbal says that after death, if the scattered particles of my dust do not come together and take the form of heart, then I will be caught in the same trouble that was imposed on me in the form of love during my life. This means that the love I have been in love within my life should not be such that even after death I would be in the same situation. Even if I reach paradise, the maidens there should not force me to express the state of love that has caused me to fast in my life. The pain of failing to reach the destination becomes a constant hassle for the traveler and hinders the struggle to reach the destination. Iqbal sees this situation as a negation of his thinking. The passion of love has given me such a vastness that it is like an endless ocean. Now the fear is that this notion will not become a shore that will become a milestone in my struggle for evolution. In this poem, Allama Iqbal says, with reference to the traditional story of Laila and Majnoon's love affair, has expressed his fear that even in this world of color and smell, I will not become an allegory of the said story by falling in love. In other words, the desire for a beloved has been a sign of failure for the rest of one's life and if it happens in another world after death, it will be very painful. In this poem, Allama Iqbal mentions the evolution of man in his time with reference to the symbols of stars and perfect honey. He says that the rise of the common man today due to his struggle has frightened the elites in the society that if he has reached the destination of success with his struggle then his Significance depends on the size of the reaction. Pareshan ho ke meri khak aakhir dil na ban jaye is the poem of Bal e Jibreel in Kulliyat e Iqbal.
