Okay, I know I wrote about the nature of leaks before with the second season of Daredevil. But I wanted to try something a little different this time around. With the imminent release of Fallout 4 -- it comes out in less than a week -- there are loads of leaked screenshots showing up on the Internet. Full disclosure, I looked at all of them. Nothing is too spoilery, screens tend not to be. But here's the challenge to you, dearest reader, will you look at them?
Below are 6 screenshots that I decided I liked and I'm going to write a short blurb about them. But you won't be able to see them immediately, you'll have to swipe to the right (if you're on mobile) to see what I'm talking about. I won't be too spoilery in my descriptions but if you really want to go into the game unsullied, then you won't swipe right.
The textures in this screen shot are amazing, it's a definite step-up from the previous games on Xbox 360 and PS3, so I'm excited to finally explore and be, probably, creeped out at being in an empty vault. Or maybe it isn't empty, I don't know. I know I'll feel a little creeped out.
While the graphics have never been the main focus of the Fallout games, I really enjoy this screen. There isn't a lot happening (so if you didn't swipe, good job) but the differences in color throughout the environment are a huge plus. Fallout 3 suffered from everything looking sort of grayish and New Vegas was sort of just brown/orange everywhere. So this is like a breath of fresh air to me.
Again, the lighting here is really really amazing. The HUD is crisp and minimal. And if you haven't looked at the screen, this is a nighttime screenshot and it looks great. If you do swipe, you'll notice how you can actually see some stars. It really adds to the world of the game.
This screen emphasizes the draw distance (Oh, you're not swiping. That's too bad. This one looks great. I bet we could enter most of those buildings). Seeing the lights off in the distance is something that I think is really awesome. Especially for those times I'll get lost in just traveling in a direction for hours. It'll really help draw me in to settlements.
This screen shows us -- what I'm guessing -- is the neutral stance for the player character in third-person. But instead of the standard white guy protagonist, we have a female protagonist in a vault suit. It looks pretty rad. And again, the colors are what's important here. It doesn't suffer from looking like someone color corrected everything to one tone.
This final one is my favorite and probably the least spoilery. It showcases a place from the trailer, you know the place where you mod armor and weapons. But the one thing that I really love about this screenshot is the armor the player character is wearing. I've this strange thing with video games that allow you to change the attire of the player character where I love collecting all the clothes. And I love it even more when the textures look amazing and it looks like that's the case for Fallout 4.
So, did you make it through without swiping at all? Because if you did, hooray here's a screenshot of the cute dog and the default protagonist of the game being all chummy! Isn't that great!
But if you looked at all the leaked screens then cool! See, I told you, they weren't that spoilery so you also get a cute dog! Also, I'm really excited to have a puppy companion to explore the wastes with. So I might have gotten a little lazy with this last block but come on guys, dogs are so good (even video game dogs).
@RainaC3, I want to know if you looked at all of them or just skipped through? Did you make it? If not, are you even more excited for the game once it's in your hands? I know I am.
