Fallout 4 is going to be in stores in a couple of days, Bethesda Softworks just released the official Launch Trailer for the game. If you haven't been keeping up with Fallout 4 at all, this might be the perfect way to get yourself acquainted with the game. It's mostly made up of gameplay footage; which is great because there hasn't been too much of that leading up to the release.
There are two things I really like about this trailer. The first is the way that I like the way the mix the voice over between the male and female protagonist throughout the trailer. It really emphasizes the fact that the game has a fully-voiced playable character for the first time in the series.
Also, the way they alternate between the female and the male protagonists voice over. Usually, games don't put emphasis on the female playable character -- if there is one in the game -- when they start marketing for the game's release. So, it's really a breath of fresh air to see this trailer have equal representation.
The second thing I really love about this trailer is all the gameplay. There are even moments when NPCs are talking and those moments are just like, well... Uh, they made me think, "Damn, that's a video game ass video game right there." I mean, you can see the awkward animations, the way the lip-syncing isn't all that perfect.
And honestly, I appreciate moments like this in video games. I mean, I know it could've been better or it could have been more [alert: buzzword incoming] immersive but I like video games as they are. The fact that these moments are still in the trailer tell me that Bethesda is aware that they made a video game. And video games are cool especially when they're not trying to be anything else.
Fallout 4 will hit shelves in a couple of days on November 10th, 2015.
