Yes, I'm still obsessed with DIY tutorials using plastic toy animals because they are just so darn cute! (Check out this card and this card for my other obsessions with toy animal DIY projects.) How adorable are these DIY toy animal magnets?! This DIY tutorial comes from the creative people at Sugar & Cloth.
For this project, you will need:
-- Toy plastic animals (you can find these at a toy store)
-- Plastic bottle caps
-- Gold (or whatever color you want) spray paint (make sure it works on plastic)
You can find these items at a craft store.
Cut the animals in half
Use the scissors to cut the plastic animals in half. Yes, this will feel like you are killing the animals, but don't worry, they are just plastic.
Spray paint the animals
Use the spray paint to completely cover the plastic animals in a cool, metallic color. Let the coat of paint completely dry. Then, push the plastic bottle tops into the hole in the back of the plastic animal, as shown in the picture above. Then, spray another coat of paint on the plastic animals.
Glue on the magnet
Use the superglue to attach the magnets to the back of the animals. Use caution when using superglue because the fumes are toxic. Let the glue dry completely before using the magnets.
Put the animal magnets on your fridge or other surface and enjoy!
