Ah Day 4....man this list gets you to think. If I thought picking a favorite male character was hard, this one was just as hard. There are really a lot of great characters out there that just make this list hard to do. But I did end up picking one off of a list I made. She just felt right because again, she was someone I could relate to and did influence my love of anime. So without further adieu, here we go. Who is your favorite female characters ever?
Yoko Nakajima from The Twelve kingdoms. She is one of the main protagonists in the series and starts out as a ordinary school girl who has trouble fitting in because of her stormy home life and her bright red hair. Her entire world is turned from difficult to down right chaotic when a man named keiki shows up claiming that she is his future queen. Now in the begining of her story, Yoko is completely whiny and almost unbearably annoying. But as her story progresses and she starts to take more control of her life, she becomes a character, while no where near perfect, that understands she has a lot of growing up to do for her own sake as well as her kingdom. She learns to empathize and that the world, while harsh can be a kind when you have the right people around you. She won me over by the end of the series and made wish there was more to the anime.
And there was also another facet to her that made me love her as well. She did what some characters, even real life people fail to to. She had to face her flaws and the ugly side to her personality and really decide if that was all there was to her. She saw her insecurities and weaknesses and overcame them and like most people, had to keep overcoming them as they showed up again and again in different forms. This earned her a placed as one of my favorite characters of anime ever.
