The Wiz Live! Preview Released

The past two years NBC did Live! versions of musicals around the holiday season. Last year, Peter Pan with Allison Williams, and the year before that, Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood.
Both (in my opinion) where super fun. But this could also be because I'm a musical nerd and honestly completely obsessed with both Sound of Music and Peter Pan. It was a great moment for more musical exposure and it revived the live-performance feel. I loved it.

But this year I'm even more excited...

Because this star-studded cast is pretty much BLOWING MY MIND.

NBC released a Preview of the performance and I couldn't me more excited to see the names in this: Shanice Williams as Dorothy, Elijah Kelley as the Scarecrow, David Alan Grier as the Cowardly Lion, and Ne-Yo as the Tin-Man?

How cool is that?!

In addition... the promotion included Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige.
This all-black cast is going to kill it, and I can't wait to see them perform on live television.

Any other Wiz fans out there?

Love Advice from the Phantom of the Opera
Hello, my name is the Phantom. You may also know me as the man behind the mask, OG (opera ghost), or the Angel of Music. As the lead in the super-successful broadway musical, I know all about love and emotion. Keep your hands at the level of your eyes and make sure to pay attention to my counsel. The Phantom of the Opera is here to give you all a little love advice: 1. Love her from Afar No need for romantic dates or actually meeting in person, because true love creeps around and follows you everywhere! Essentially don’t talk to her unless you pretend to be the ghost of her dead father. Coach her to be the best and most talented singer at the opera. Make sure she comes to you for everything: life advice, career advice, and relationship advice. 2. Seduce Her with Your Voice All ladies love a man who sings. No need to seduce her with your looks when you can SING TO HER SOUL. This works only when she’s alone though, so make sure no ones around. 3. Take Her on Your Sweet Ride I mean...We’re on a boat. The ladies love boats. 4. Ignore the Fact that She has a Super Hot Boyfriend He’s her childhood friend turned super-successful hottie. He’s strong and can protect her, and he also sing really well, but you were there first! 5. ...But Know When to Let Her Go She’s everything you want in a girl. She’s perfect and sings beautifully. But she’s not into you the way you are. You put up a fight for her, but you also should know when to just let her go. Because that’s true love right? "Teach me to live Give me the strength to try No more memories No more silent tears No more gazing across the wasted years Help me say goodbye Help me say goodbye"
Disney Princesses Singing In Their Native Languages
English is not the native tongue of Disney Princesses. Everyone has grown up with Disney Princesses because they are the most innocent form of childhood entertainment. With the fantastic movies comes even better songs which make them so appealing. Your infatuation with them carries on into adulthood and before you know it, you're sitting in your living room watching the movies singing along with your own children. Crazy right? Well, here's the thing, English is the default language, not the native one. All Disney Princesses have come from other countries other than Pocahontas who was a Native American in North America (present day USA). It brings up a really interesting change because when you watch the Disney movies in their native languages, it has an entirely new meaning because it's authentically and historically correct. Disney Americanizes our movies through using English and we forget that languages play a huge role in presenting emotions, interactions, conversations, and without a doubt, our singing. One of the biggest trends on the internet is hearing a Disney Princess sing her hit song with her own native finesse instead of a defaulted English one. Enjoy and really take notice on the differences in emphasis and fluidity of the lyrics. Because of changed language, the songs also have different lyrics to fit the melody which slightly alters the song even if it has a similar universal meaning. Disney is genius. What do you think?
