I don't know what else can be said about everything that's happened over the weekend. Everything feels kind of wrong and backwards and, well, fucked up. And me, I feel a little fucked up too. I spent my weekend with the privilege of being in a place where I could drink with good friends and better music.
And while we were laughing and drinking ourselves dry, buying things we don't really need, and exchanging jokes at a rate only stock brokers could understand. Terrible, horrible, fucked up things were happening.
And here I am, again, writing about myself. Because I have nothing I could possibly say to alleviate some of the pain people have felt over the past couple hours/days. So, what can we do? We can turn to some music, at least. Maybe it'll help. Maybe it won't. But this song is for everyone.
Charles Bradley is one of those artists who definitely needs to be on everyone's playlist. And his song The World (Is Going Up in Flames) is (unfortunately) very appropriate for the moment and the feelings I'm going through with everything that's happening in the world right now.
I usually put some "notable lyrics" right here. But I think you should just listen to the whole song. It's a good one.
