Show your state pride with these cute state-shaped cork boards along with state-themed thumbtacks. This DIY tutorial comes from the wonderfully creative people at Brit + Co.
For this project, you will need:
-- Cork boards
-- Hot-glue gun and glue sticks

-- Sponge brush
-- Thumb tacks
-- X-ACTO knife
-- Acrylic neon paint
-- Washi tape or painter's tape
-- Permanent marker
You can find all of these items at a craft store.
Print off shapes of states and cut them out
Print out the shape of the states that you want. Then, lay the paper down on a protective surface and use the X-ACTO knife to cut around the edge of the state.
Trace the state on the cork board
Lay the cut out state shape on the cork board. Then, use the permanent marker to trace around the edge of the state onto the cork board. Remove the piece of paper from the cork board.
Cut out the cork board
Use the X-ACTO knife to cut the cork board around the edge of the state.
Make accents on the cork board
Take a piece of washi tape or painter's tape and place it on a diagonal plane toward the edge of the cork board.
Paint on the accent
Use the sponge brush and neon acrylic paint to paint above the tape onto the cork board. You may need to do a few layers to really make the colors pop. Let the paint completely dry and then remove the tape.
Make state-themed pushpins
Take the pack of scrapbook stickers and remove the sticky part from the back. Then, use a hot-glue gun to glue the thumb tacks to the back of the stickers. Use caution when using the hot-glue gun — it can be incredibly dangerous. Let the glue dry completely before using the thumb tacks.
Put up you state cork boards in your living space and enjoy!
