While there are always crazy transfer rumors floating around, today I saw one that really caught my eye.
Reports have surfaced that misfiring Chelsea are going to make a 20 million pound offer for West Brom's 22 year old striker.
Berahino was the subject of some crazy drama over the summer. Spurs made West Brom an offer for the young striker's services, only to have West Brom refuse to sell. Berahino flipped and made public statements damning the management. He even went as far to say that he would never play for West Brom again after they refused to let him leave for greener pastures.
That all cooled down, though, and he has been playing for the Baggies for the majority of the season.
Chelsea are in desperate need of help up front as the loan for Radamel Falcao looks sure to come to a screeching halt. Falcao has been absolutely awful all season and the experiment by Jose Mourinho to revive the Colombian's career has clearly failed.
It's sad, to watch a player like Falcao have his career crumble before our very eyes due to injury. Only two or three short years ago, he was considered the best pure striker in the world. Now, he can't find the net.
In any case, it's time for Chelsea to move on from Falcao and with Diego Costs way off the mark and Loic Remy just simply not good enough, Chelsea need some reinforcements.
Berahino could be just the man that Chelsea need, but I'm not totally sure.
The English international scored a really solid 14 league goals last season (and 20 in all competitions), but has scored just three times in the league so far this campaign. That's not good enough for Chelsea, if you ask me.
I think Chelsea need to bring in an accomplished striker who they know will get them goals. I don't see this as a time to experiment with a young, fairly unproven player who has a history of having something of a short temper. Not to mention, he's out of form and would struggle to get into the team ahead of Costa. It would be bad for his development to sit on the bench each weekend.
