Did you know that Sarah Palin is the reason behind Adele's success? Adele even said so herself. The powerhouse singer is publicly thanking the Alaskan governor for igniting Adele's success and fans are still trying to connect the dots. In an interview during a BBC special, Adele revealed that an unexpected connection between her and Palin at Saturday Night Live boosted Adele into the forefront of the music industry.
"Because something came up in the campaign, she came and did [SNL] the week I was doing it."
This quick change bringing Palin on the show was the best surprise for Adele. Palin's SNL episode was one of the highest viewed episodes in SNL's history. That monumental episode broadcasted Adele across the US giving her a priceless moment of widespread publicity.
"It was one of the most watched SNLs ever and then it was two weeks before the Grammy ballot, which is when people decide what songs they want to maybe nominate, so, like, literally the stars aligned for me," she continued.
Not only did Adele benefit but so did Tina Fey who played the role of Sarah Palin. From Fey's comments about being able to see Canada from her house, multiple moose jokes, and acting out an upset Palin because of the lack of talent portions, fans took Fey's comedy by storm. It's fair to say that Fey was a huge reason as to why the episode was such a hit but Adele still stands by Palin.
"The album shot to number one on iTunes and I was nominated for a Grammy and then I won one! It was a joke! It was a joke. All thanks to Sarah Palin!"
Well, at least there's someone in the world thanking Sarah Palin.
