Genre: Action, Adventure, Supernatural & Fantasy
English name: "Rage of Bahamut: Genesis"
Mistarcia is a magical world where humans, gods, and demons mingle together. In the past, the black-and-silver winged Bahamut has threatened to destroy the land, but humans, gods, and demons overcame their differences to fight together and seal its power. The key to that seal was split in two, one half given to the gods and the other to demons, so that they would never be united and Bahamut never released. Now, two thousand years later, the world is in an era of peace—until the day a human woman steals the gods' half of the key.
Status: Completed (12.5 Episodes)
The plot is very simple. To keep both, gods' key and demons' key, sealed so Bahamut isn't released and destroys the world. Even though it is a simple concept (also nothing new), the execution in this anime is marvelous. The way it keeps it interesting every episode and giving the viewer that "Just one more episode" mentality is only ONE of the many reasons why the anime is so damn good (I will elaborate in the -Reasons to Watch- section). It also didn't feel rushed as many animes with only 12 episodes nowadays are. It had a good amount of depth to keep anyone intrigued wanting to come back and just finish the anime.
At first, I thought it was going to be just another silly protagonist like Luffy or Naruto (and...he kinda is) but for some reason it feels different. The way Favaro does things are not like those mentioned above. He's not overpowered or incredibly smart but man he's a good "host". There's also Amira who's the one who steals the gods' key but there is more to her than what meets the eye and that's all i'll say about her. The supporting characters are colorful and charming with a lot of variety with characters like Michael, Gabriel, Zeus in the gods side and Lucifer, Cerberus, Satan in the demons side.
The voice acting on this is on point. The background music and the sound effects are epic which is no surprise for an anime like this. When I listened to the opening song, It easily became one of my all time favorites (Just listen to it once and I dare you to tell me is not amazing). It was one of the openings I haven't skipped throughout the entire series in a while. The ending song is full of emotions and it's so soothing which is something I actually needed after some of the episodes.
-Reasons to Watch-
First of all, as I said before the plot is simple but the execution is marvelous and it will keep you intrigued throughout the entire series. All the characters have their own charm and they all develop in a meaningful way. Also, who doesn't want to watch gods and demons help each other for peace (It is a rare sight if you think about it). The animation is one of THE absolute best I've seen in anime. I haven't seen art style this good since I watched "Zetsuen no Tempest".
If you are a person who loves massive scale battles, huge creatures, zombies, magic, etc. plus a solid plot, this is the anime for you. This came out Fall 2014 and I was actually surprised not many people knew about it. It's just my personal opinion but this really is a "must-watch". A warning before you watch this, cancel your appointments for the day because you're not going out the day you start and ready some sunglasses because this is a flashy one.
The company already announced a Season 2 so I'm waiting patiently (not). Watch it before season 2 comes out!
