Blank Slate Cocktail

With it being Thanksgifting Week (according to Home Shopping Network), I thought it would be nice to gift this GORGEOUS cocktail recipe that I found on Imbibe Magazine with Vingle and dedicate it to both @Rodiziketan and @Allobaber.
I wanted to dedicate it to these two Vinglers because they have been especially delightful, encouraging, inquisitive, and all that regarding the cards that I have shared in the past. I have LEARNED A TON about mixology from @Rodiziketan, but the most important thing of all is to use FRESH INGREDIENTS! It actually makes a big difference in just how fabulous your drink can and will be.
And then there's @Allobaber, who is ALWAYS a ray of sunshine and positivity. Like, does anything get this girl down?! I admire her ability to make things bright and sunny. And I would be lying if I said that I didn't LOVE the LoveBugs in the Love and Relationship Community. If you've never checked it out, then it's time you did!
Jagermeister--what was once the shot glass-only liquor--has shimmied its way into all manner of cocktail glasses. Don't ask any questions or say it out loud, but its masculinity appears to be a bit more relaxed than it has ever been.
Mixologists all over are taking the cardboard cutout, that is Jager, and turning it into some curious-looking refreshments.

Blank Slate

2 oz. Jägermeister
¾ oz. fresh grapefruit juice
¼ oz. fresh lemon juice
¼ oz. pear brandy (Hoard uses Clear Creek)
¼ oz. ginger syrup
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: Old fashioned
Garnish: sliced fresh ginger
Combine all ingredients and shake with ice, strain over ice into a rocks glass, and top with approximately 1 oz. of soda water.
Everything about this says Thanksgifting to me. Special thanks to Vingle, all the Vinglers that I get to interact with on a daily basis, my buds, @Rodiziketan and @Allobaber, and the really cool people that I have gotten to meet and mingle with on here!!!!!

I miss you two <333 I'm so sorry it's been a while since I've been around -___- I've been so busy with family and Thanksgiving and all that. I'm the worst, I know. first of all, thank you for all the compliments and the tag(s) lol :) and this drinks sounds incredible. If I needed to award one cocktail only based on its recipe (without even trying it) this would be it. The combination seems sooo great. I like how it looks and I like how it sounds. Making this for this christmas for my family, and I will let you know how we liked it. And thanks again, you made my day with this amazing recipe and even more amazing card. :) @marshalledgar

I'm not quite in citrus country, though, we do grow tons and tons of oranges out here. I have never heard of white grapefruit. I must be living under a rock. I need to get out more in LA!! If you can do both, then do both. THat would be cool to see if there's much of a difference between the two. @rodiziketan
and just to be sure, the recipe calls for white grapefruit juice, right? I assume by the color of the cocktail :) @marshalledgar

Chocolate Chip Cookie Shot Glasses
In honor of National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, here is a deliciously fun way to get your chocolate chip cookie fix during happy hour: Chocolate Chip Cookie Shot Glasses! And in case you think I am making this holiday up, you can find it , and a ton of other national holidays that will blow your mind at National Day Calendar online. This 4 1/2 star recipe comes from All Recipes user, Nicole Faust Hunt, called "Absolutely The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies." To make the shot glasses, you will need a 'popover' pan. Otherwise, you can make these using small cupcake pans. However, the shape of the glass will not look like a shot glass. Ingredients: 1 cup butter flavored shortening (not butter) 3/4 cup white sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 2 teaspoons Mexican vanilla extrac t2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups milk chocolate chips Chocolate candy melts (for later) Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the pan. In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla .Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips. Press the cookie dough into the popover pan bottom and sides. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until light brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Separately, melt the chocolate candy melts in a microwave or a double boiler. Once the cookie shot glasses have cooled, spoon in the candy melts, covering the bottom and inside cookie walls. This will harden relatively quick, or you can put it in the fridge. This coating will prevent liquids from being absorbed into the cookie. Korean Girls Try Mexican Soda For The First Time!
Just when that whole YouTube trend of sampling foods from different cultures was losing its sparkle to me, Digitalsoju TV had to go ahead and introduce Korean girls to Jarritos. I've been wanting to write a card about Jarritos for a while now, as it's one of those Mexican sodas that are an essential part of the culture of Mexican cuisine. Sure, you can talk about Baja California seafood or the delicious carnes of central Mexico's ranching region, but what would that deliciousness be without a cold, fizzy Jarritos on the side? If you don't know Jarritos, it's an incredibly popular Mexican soda brand that's made with cane sugar and comes in a variety of flavors, including strawberry, guava, pineapple, and tamarind. In this video, the girls end up sampling the pineapple, grapefruit, mango, and guava flavors, but how does Jarritos translate in the Land of the Morning Calm? Let's look! Like any good soda, the first thing they notice is it's full of sugar. And then they all realize they're obsessed with the guava one. My favorite was the homegirl going too hard on the grapefruit. What A Coke Does To Your Body In 1 Hour
I'll be the first to admit that I love Coca Cola. But it's absolutely horrible for us. A very detailed infographic supplied by TheRenegadePharmacist.com has officially proven again how bad Coke is for your body (WE KNOW). The American CDC has said that 25% of Americans drink soda on a regular basis which is a hefty reason why obesity has run rampant. Sugar is the main culprit since an average can of soda can contain 3 tablespoons of sugar and 4 tablespoons if in a 12-ounce-bottle. Coke is one of the most popular soft drinks in the United States with a massive marketing empire so there will never be a day where we won't see it somewhere. But there comes a time where you need to take a moment and see what you're putting into your body. Let's take a look : All it takes is ONE Coke : First 10 Minutes : 10 teaspoon of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don't immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down. In 20 Minutes : Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your live responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There's plenty of that at this particular moment.) In 40 Minutes : Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your liver dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness. In 45 Minutes : Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way. In 60 Minutes : The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium, and zinc in your lower intestine providing a further boost in metabolism. This is a compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium. After 60 Minutes : The caffeine's diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you'll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium, and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water. As the rave inside of you died down you'll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You've also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in theCoke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like having the ability to hydrate your system of build strong bones and teeth. Why you should care? - Coke weakens bones and teeth. - Increases your chance for getting diabetes. - It slows your metabolism, especially long term. - Aspartame in the soda leads to disease and organ irritation. - Coke has negative affects on fertility. - It leads to weight gain. - Can worsen asthma or increase risk for heart disease. - Cancer, Osteoporosis, and Kidney issues are common in people who drink soda. - It's expensive to continually buy it. - Diet sodas are a scam and false advertising. All soda is bad for you. - No nutritional value. - Raised cholesterol and specifically increased belly fat. Do I need to say more? Coke or soda for that matter is never a good idea. (But don't worry, I still love it.)
