The St. Louis Rams wide receiver was reportedly sitting in a car with four other people when another car drove up and someone opened fire.
Bailey underwent surgery Wednesday and was expected to remain in the intensive care unit for an additional three to five days, according to multiple reports.
"Bailey and Reeves, along with three additional passengers were sitting in their car when another vehicle arrived and opened fire,” Miami Gardens police spokesperson Doretha Hall said in a news release. “The victims drove themselves to an area hospital.”
Two of passengers were Bailey’s children, WFOR-TV reported.
“We are aware Stedman Bailey was involved in an incident this evening," the team wrote on a statement posted to its website. "We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition. We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more.”
