Genre: Action, School & Assassination
English Name: Riddle: Story of Devil
The story is set at Myoujou Academy, a private girls' boarding school. The 10th year's Kurogumi class has 12 assassins with their sights on one target, Haru Ichinose. Tokaku Azuma is a recent transfer student who is also targeting Ichinose, but she gradually develops feelings for Ichinose.
Status: Completed (12 Episodes)
Basically you have 13 girls attending the "Black class" where 12 of them are assassins and the remaining girl is the target. However, only one assassin can attempt to kill the target at a time by sending the target an "Advance Note". For the one that succeeds in killing the target, any wish will be granted. Each character gets an episode but only one and unfortunately, character development is nothing to be seen here.
All of the characters' motives are explored, and none are left without their moment of focus. However, one of the rules to the assassination is that it must be done AFTER submitting an advance notice, and that leads to a villain of the week type scenario. With only twelve episodes, with characters often only getting one episode of focus, almost every single member of the Black Class is left underdeveloped.
The soundtrack of "Akuma no Riddle" is wonderful. The instrumental portions have a wonderful effect on the mood, adding an eerie, disturbing feel to the show, and also manage to add excitement to the fight scenes. The opening theme is also fantastic, but the best part of the soundtrack is the endings. Each episode has a different ending focusing on one of the girls of the class that is sung by the subject's voice actor. I won't put the ending song video as it is a different one every episode! If you want to know more about the OP, click here!
-Reasons to Watch-
I have to say the reasons why I finished this is because of the suspense every episode brings, the characters are likable and the soundtrack. Each episode will focus on one assassin and the diversity of the characters will always keep you entertained. The characters have their own personalities, assassination skills, and charm. You will probably find a character for you. But the main reason (at least for me) was the soundtracks. You may know me for my "Animusic" collection and you know I love anime music! As soon as I heard this, I just had to watch the anime. It surprised me even more with the fact that every episode has a different ending song depending on the assassin focused on that episode. I will recommend this for those who love suspense and anime music! For those looking for an amazing plot or animation, maybe give it a chance? but I can't guarantee that you'll love it.
