For people like me anime is life. But you know what else is life? Music! So why not mix the two? With that said here are a few of my favorite songs from anime that I'm currently watching or have already watched. These are those kind of songs that you go back to listen to years after you've watched the show they're attached to. Of course there are the big ones like TK's "Unravel" and Tommy Heavenly6's "Papermoon" but I want to focus more on the some lesser known anime and songs. Hope you guys enjoy them as much as I still do. Also took the time to add the full song for anyone who wants to listen to more than a minute and a half of these songs (which I personally don't think does these songs quite enough justice). Also I feel like I should inform you that the full song listed for "Brave Shine" isn't the original. It's about as close to the original as I could find. Apparently the copyright police are really cracking down on Japanese songs on YouTube. It's a shame really because it's such a beautiful song. But thankfully that's the only one that suffered that fate on this list. Hope this list inspires you guys to check some of these animes out of you haven't already. Also leave a comment letting me know any that you would've liked to see on this list. Let's all bask together in the awesomeness of anime music!!!
1. High School of the Dead
Song Name: "High School of the Dead" by Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets Thoughts: This was the very first anime that I watched. It's also one of my all-time favorites. The opening is awesome and the emotions and feelings of the characters are conveyed so well that I felt like I was in the show itself. Everyone's reactions to the zombie outbreak completely sucked me into the show and I found myself binge watching before I knew it. The plot and story itself was so good that it really didn't need all the fan service it had. At the time though I wasn't very experienced with anime so I just assumed that's how they all were. But despite all the ridiculously buoyant and large breasts (not that I'm really complaining though) it was still really good. Definitely a must watch if you haven't already.
Song Name: "No Pain, No Game" by Nano Thoughts: Well there isn't a whole lot to say about this show honestly. The synopsis says it all. Action? ✔. Awesome opening? ✔. Insane guy who loves to kill and destroy? ✔. Explosions? ✔. If you haven't seen this anime yet I strongly recommend you watch it. Especially if you like videogame-became-reality type anime like SAO. Although, you might be disappointed that there's no 2nd season. I know I was.
3. Air Gear
Song Name: "Chain" by Back-On Thoughts: There was one huge theme that spread over this anime like an umbrella. That theme is FREEDOM. Everything about this show says "freedom." And this song captures that theme perfectly. From the opening song to the main characters attitude to his crew's feelings about AT fights. ATs represent a way for people to break free from the pressure and business of everyday and fly with the birds as fully free beings and I love that. And on top of that the show is hilarious albeit somewhat explicit. I actually linked a video that should clue you in on some of the humor in Air Gear. The video is dubbed but I watched the show subbed so I'm not really sure which is funnier or better. I'll leave that up to you.
4. Re: Hamatora
Song Name: "Sen no Tsubasa" by 9mm Parabellum Bullet Thoughts: This title is actually the second season of the series "Hamatora". But anyway this show is pretty interesting. It's just like Blood Blockade Battlefront in the sense that it is really difficult to follow if you don't pay attention. But the action and the characters and the plot are really good. Not too fond of the main character's name but that's a minor issue and a personal opinion. But all in all this show is certainly worth a watch.
5. Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works
Song Name: "Brave Shine" by Aimer Thoughts: There's really isn't much to say about this show. If you've ever watched a Fate/Stay or Fate/Zero show before you know how awesome the fights scenes are. You know how great the animation is. You also know how abused Lancer is by the creators. And now you know how beautiful the second season's opening song is. But if you haven't already watched a Fate/Stay Fate/Zero anime I suggest you do because it'll change your life.
Song Name: "Rage On" by OldCodex Thoughts: This show was surprisingly great. When I decided to start it, after several months of my sister practically begging me to, I wasn't expecting much. I didn't think I'd make it through the first episode but then I heard Haru's opening monologue followed by the opening and from then on I was hooked. From the characters to the visuals everything was really well done. I'm sure you can tell from the opening that the water looks so clear and beautiful and blue that you just want jump in and let it wash all over you. The characters are so well developed that you feel like you're part of the swim club. The drama that they go through seems a little melodramatic if you ask me but it's tolerable especially beside that insanely gorgeous water. If you really enjoy sports anime this is a must watch. Also yes it is a show that has a lot of shirtless guys but it's not yaoi or gay or whatever. Since it's a mostly male cast there are a lot of people that are into yaoi always shipping the characters with each other. But the actual anime itself isn't. And that's coming from a straight guy. Also the guy who sings the opening is the voice actor for one of the main characters. Specifically Makoto. So yeah. Awesome.
7. Tokyo Ravens
Song Name: "Outgrow" by Gero Thoughts: I'm gonna start out by saying that this show didn't exactly reach its full potential as far as I'm concerned. It was like watching a fireworks display that promises to end with a bang but instead ends with a fizzle. Not to say the show isn't great it just could've been much greater. With that said it was still worth watching and I did enjoy it so I recommend giving it a watch.
8. Persona4: The Animation
Song Name: "Key Plus Words" by Hirata and Yumi Kawamura Thoughts: I really liked this show. Like a lot. It was based on a video game and just like any other anime like that (Danganronpa for instance) it had that quirky feel to it that just clues you in on the fact that it's based from a game. It's a great mystery anime that had me laughing a lot. You get really attached to the characters. Especially Kuma. He really sticks with you. So yeah if you enjoy mysteries with some clever humor, deep characters, and nice artwork then this one is for you.
9. Tokyo Majin
Song Name: "0:00 AM" by Acid Thoughts: Awesome song, awesome and underrated show. 'Nuff said.
These are the opening/ending songs of shows that didn't quite make the cut (mainly because I was ready to start something new) but you should certainly check out. Also I would make Nona from Death Parade my wife. Just Toshin that out there. Do what you will with it lol Song Names/Anime: (in order of appearance) 1. "Crawl" by Veltpunch from Nabari no Ou (opening song) 2. "Seasons Die One After Another" by Amazarashi from Tokyo Ghoul Root A (ending song) 3. "What's Up People" by Maxim the Hormone from Death Note (season 2 opening song) 4. "Hey Kids!" by Kyouran from Noragami Aragoto (opening song) 5. "Existence" by SiM from Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis (opening song) 6. "Sugar Song to Bitter Step" by Unison Square Garden from Kekkai Sensen (ending song) 7. "Renegade" by Stereo Dive Foundation from Gangsta. (opening song) 8. "Yoru no Kuni" by Annabel from Gangsta. (ending song) 9. "Flyers" by Bradio from Death Parade (opening song) 10. "My Dearest" by Supercell from Guilty Crown (season 1 opening song)
Hope you guys like the card. And a reminder let me know any songs you may have wanted to see on here or any you were excited to see. I just might make this a thing. And with that I'll leave you guys with one of my favorite ending songs from Daily Lives of High School Boys. Until next time guys!! See ya
