The Jets crushed the Dolphins on Sunday, winning by a score of 38-20. While the scoreline was bad, the reality is that the game wasn't even as close as 38-20 suggests... which is to say that this one was a total blowout, right from the beginning.
Jets WR Brandon Marshall proved that he's still elite despite his 31 years of age, as the big wideout scored 2 TDs and hauled in 9 passes for 131 yards.
Marshall was the player of the game, as he absolutely smoked CB Brent Grimes time and time again. Grimes, much shorter and not nearly as strong as Marshall, had no chance. Right from the get-go it was clear that the Jets had the game plan to exploit the tiny corner using their stud WR, and they executed.
The Jets defense was superb, as they led 14-0 at halftime and took a 21-0 lead behind an early interception and another fumble recovery. They were playing without CB Darrelle Revis, but you'd never know it by the way they played.
Mohammad Wilkerson played maybe his best game of the season and continues to impress.
It's becoming more and more obvious that the Jets need to pay him all the money he asks for in order to keep him with the team. Straight up, he's one of the best players in the league.
Safety Calvin Pryor, who was criticized heavily last season during his rookie year for underperforming, has blossomed into a really good player this season, as he had a great game, too. It was a complete performance for the Jets' D, and it would've looked even more impressive had they not gone soft in the 4th quarter, when they allowed 13 points.
RB Chris Ivory, who had been struggling during the past few weeks, broke out of his slump with one of the best runs I've seen. It perfectly demonstrated what kind of power Ivory has, as he broke four tackles in the backfield and another one after getting back to the line en route to a 31-yard TD.
Check it out above - you can be sure you'll see that one again when it comes time to upload the NFL Plays of the Week (coming tomorrow)!
As it stands, the Jets are on the outside looking in, but are very much in the hunt. While the Chiefs and Texans are both red hot, and the Steelers are still to be considered a really good team, this was a big win for the Jets, who came in having lost 4 of 5.
This team is back on track to make a playoff push... don't give up on Gang Green quite yet!
