Star Wars: Battlefront came out a couple weeks ago and we're still really pumped about its existence. I mean, remember when we all thought it was never going to happen when Lucasarts shut down? Geez, what a time that was.
Anyway, EA released a new trailer for their Battle of Jakku DLC. It was originally a pre-order bonus but it's being made available to all players for free on December 8th (which is really cool of EA, like, wow EA, you're cool).
One of the reasons why I'm extremely excited about this is because it allows us (the player) to step into the lore of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And yeah, sure, you can argue that every Star Wars game does this because every movie leads up to this moment and blah blah whatever who cares I'm not listening anymore.
But what Battlefront's Battle of Jakku does different is that it puts us in a setting that we've never experienced. It's strictly tied to the events that take place after Return of the Jedi. In a way, this is new territory for us to tread in terms of story and lore.
And yeah, I know Battlefront doesn't really have a "story mode" so to speak, since it's a mainly multiplayer game. But I think it'll be fun for all the headcanon stuff that goes on while you play games. Seeing what Jakku looked like before we see it on-screen in The Force Awakens will probably make us feel a part of the movie/the world.
I'm still really pumped on flying an X-Wing all around. God, why can't I just print money so I can buy all of these games? (because that's illegal Paul)
Star Wars: Battlefront's Battle of Jakku will be available FOR FREE on December 8th, 2015.
