A couple months ago, it seemed as if the Tupac biopic was on the shelf, but the new news that broke today has breathed life back into the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, music video director Benny Boom has signed on to direct the oft-delayed Tupac film, becoming the fourth director attached after Carl Franklin, John Singleton and Antoine Fuqua all departed the project.
Benny Boom had previously directed the 2009 feature film Next Day Air.
The film is under a TIGHT deadline to expedite production as a previous lawsuit with Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur granted them rights to Tupac’s music so long as production began by years end.
Many fear that the film hasn't been handled properly. Former film director John Singleton even posted on Instagram, saying that “The people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac.”
Lets hope things clean up soon and a quality product is put forth at the end result.
