When Laura Arnold, 42, from Warwickshire, England, found out her husband, Craig, 44, was about to cheat on her, she sought revenge in a way that really hit home.
It all started when Craig forgot his cell at home while traveling to New York for a 14-day business trip. When Craig's phone received a text from an unknown number on it, Laura decided to check it out. It was then she discovered a message that promised Craig a steamy welcome when he landed in the States. Without any hesitation, Laura decided right then and there to pack her bags, move out, and sell their home.
Because Laura's parents had control over the mortgage, she was able to quickly sell the property on SellHouseFast.Uk to a bunch of college students, without Craig knowing a thing.
"I could do it [sell the home] because my parents came up with the deposit for our home...when we struggled with the mortgage, they [her parents] came in [and took over the mortgage]," she told The Birmingham Mail.
Two weeks later, Craig came home late at night to discover that the locks on the door had changed and there were six college students sitting downstairs. He also saw that all the lights were on in the house and heard the TV blaring.
"I remember thinking it was really out-of-character for Laura to be up past 11:00 P.M.," Craig said. "I had no idea what on earth was going on...At this point, I was seriously freaked out, jet-lagged, and frantic. I started banging on the door and shouting Laura's name, but was greeted instead by what looked like a 21-year-old hippie."
When the college kid let him inside, Craig noticed all of Laura's furniture was missing and realized quickly what had happened.
"I was gutted. I still can't get my head around how she did this in the span of a two-week period," he said. "I made a mistake and paid for it dearly...Who knows, maybe getting this out of her system will allow us to build on the existing amicable relationship?"
Wouldn't count on it, Craig.
