Even though it's gloomy outside, add some color to your home or apartment with this DIY project for colorful lights. You can also turn this into a holiday project by using red and green instead of multi-color. This DIY tutorial comes from the absolutely awesome people at Buzzfeed.
For this project, you will need:
-- Mod Podge
-- Fabric dye
-- One string of lights
-- Sponge brush
You can find all of these items at a crafts store.
Dye the cheesecloth
Prepare the fabric dye according to the directions on the dye box. Then, let the dyed cheesecloth dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Cut the cheesecloth
Use the scissors to cut the cheesecloth into squares that are big enough to fit over the lightbulbs.
Apply the Mod Podge
Unscrew all of the bulbs from the string of lights (be careful while handling the bulbs). Then, take the sponge brush and Mod Podge and paint a layer of Mod Podge over the light bulb.
Attach the cheesecloth
Take the pieces of cheesecloth and drape them over the Mod Podge-covered light bulb. Trim the extra cheesecloth off of the light bulb. Repeat these previous steps on all of the other light bulbs. Let the bulbs dry completely. Then, screw the bulbs back into the string.
String the lights up in your living space and enjoy!
Don't leave these lights on if you leave you home or apartment.
