The only Mecha anime that I really got into were the Evangelion movies. So stoked that the newest one is out already. I tried to watch the series but after seeing the movies the story trickled on too slowly. The animation, the story and plot, the climax each movie had, the fighting sequences, everything about Evangelion was epic. Plot Summary via Bestanimes.tv After the second impact, all that remains of Japan is Tokyo-3, a city that’s being attacked by giant creatures that seek to eradicate the human kind, called Angels. After not seeing his father for more than eight years, Shinji Ikari receives a phone call in which he is told to urgently come to the NERV Headquarters, an organization that deals with the destruction of the Angels through the use of giant mechs called Evas. Shinji’s objective is to pilot the Eva Unit 01 while teaming up with the Eva Unit 00 pilot, Ayanami Rei.
What's really makes this a solid anime is the hero. He's pretty much a worthless scared kid who fucks things up. Which is pretty legit considering the background story. The world went through an apocalyptic situation and now he's being forced to operate colossal machines for the sake of humanity against gigantic outer dimensional monsters that continually appear to attack the city. Fuck man, he has a right to be scared shitless. Thank you Kami-sama for character development.
