This is a great DIY project for a snow day or a day during Holiday break for your kids to do to help you decorate your living space. This DIY tutorial comes from the incredibly creative people at Stubbornly Crafty.
For this project, you will need:
-- Colored and gray cardstock
-- Twine or ribbon
-- Craft glue
-- Scording blade
You can find all of these items at a craft store.
Cut the cardstock
Use the scissors and the ruler to cut the cardstock into strips. Cut out your gray cardstock in 1 1/4″ x 4″ strips and cut out your colored cardstock in 1″ x 8.5″ strips.
Score the gray cardstock
Use the scoring blade to score the gray cardstock every 1/2". Then, use the holepuncher to punch two holes in the gray cardstock across from each other so that you can string the twine or ribbon through those holes. Role the cardstock, as shown in the picture above, and glue the cardstock.
Holepunch the colored cardstock
Fold the pieces of colored cardstock in half. Then, use the holepuncher to punch a hold in the top of the folded cardstock, as shown in the picture above. Repeat these previous steps to make all of the other cardstock lights.
String the twine through the cardstock
Take a long piece of twine or ribbon and string it through one side of the gray cardstock and then through the colored cardstock and then back through the other side of the gray cardstock, as shown in the picture above. String all of the other cardstock lights on the twine or ribbon. Dab a little bit of glue on the twine and lights to keep the lights from sliding on the garland.
String up in your living space and enjoy your cute string of Christmas lights!
