The Truth About Kim Jongkook's Past
You probably all recognize Kim Jong Kook from Running Man, but there is a lot about him you might not know... Kim Jongkook debuted as a dance duo called Turbo in the mid-90's when he was 19 years old, the other member being Kim Jungnam. Turbo was a very popular group with a string of hit songs, super overworked, and barely fed in between schedules. They typically had 10 gigs daily, 17 when they were really busy, and had to get on a plane to travel between these gigs 5 times in a day. During comebacks, there were always records of Kim Jongkook and Kim Jungnam going in and out of the hospital at least 3 times a month (the most hospitalized artists at the time). But all the money from their blood and sweat went towards the head of their agency, who also used violence. The agency's managers were all gangsters and would also force Turbo to perform at inappropriate nightclubs and steal their pay through violence. You know why Kim Jongkook started bulking up and has that "Spartakook" character (or whatever it is) he has now? He started learning boxing as SELF-DEFENSE because he was beaten all the time. Kim Jungnam mentioned that they were relieved once because they were hit with "only" a chair and ashtray. Kim Jongkook was often tied up in the basement and hit for who knows how long, if he complained or didn't practice enough. He was nearly beat to death for ordering one more dish on the menu, during a dinner with Turbo's backdancers. [CRAZY "fun fact": One of the gangster managers who beat Kim Jongkook during his Turbo days is the CEO of C-JeS, Baek Changjoo (also threatened actor Kwon Sangwoo in the past). Baek Changjoo aka Song Jihyo's former CEO and ex-boyfriend; wonder how Kim Jongkook felt when news of them dating broke out during RM filming.] Once, the two Turbo members ran away instead of attending a scheduled event. The agency threatened them and forced the media to make the members look bad. Kim Jongkook, when directly asked about this issue, looked afraid to give an honest answer. Instead, he vaguely said, "There's a man controlling everything behind the scenes. A person with power can manipulate the media to make a single person into a complete idiot. I was disillusioned, after being so worn out by this industry. Whenever someone approached me with a smiling face, I'd become suspicious and question his/her secret intent but then...I decided that no matter how much this world deceives and toys with me, 'Everything will turn out fine if I remain upright!' This was my motto and I let them [the agency people] drag me around to darker places." After this interview, the issue grew and the police started an investigation. The agency head hid from the public, and only the agency rep and two managers were arrested (for violence, threats, and taking millions in profit that should have rightfully gone to Turbo). The investigation ended pretty messily, with Kim Jongkook remaining in Turbo and Kim Jungnam's leave. Following this, Kim Jongkook developed society anxiety disorder and never left his home for a whole year and 2 months. He became addicted to games, during that time spent alone in his home, to the point that his arm was almost paralyzed. The agency later reached out to him, tried to amend things, and Kim Jongkook went back as Turbo's choreographer. The agency held an audition to pick a new member to replace Kim Jungnam (competition was 1600:1). The two finalists was a talented guy (Mikey) and a guy picked for his visuals. Kim Jongkook insisted Mikey be picked over the other and protested, "Turbo was supposed to be a talented group!" The agency head told the then-21 years old Kim Jongkook that he will be held financially responsible for everything if the group fails; and, that's how Mikey joined Turbo. The agency also tricked Mikey into signing an unfair contract, and when Turbo disbanded, Mikey had to get 6 months of treatment for severe depression (he was also suicidal). Once Kim Jongkook's contract with the agency expired, he had plans for a solo album and set out looking for composers. But all of the composers couldn't give him songs because they were being threatened by the head of his former agency. He was even rejected by composer Joo Younghun, who he was personally close friends with. He wondered whether this was the end of his singing career and had a drink with Cha Taehyun. He called the former agency head, who coldly said, "Looks like you're calling because you're disadvantaged." Kim Jongkook even begged, "Hyungnim, please allow me to live." The agency head cut him off and thought he ended the call (but didn't), and Kim Jongkook heard him saying, "I'm definitely going to kill this kid." Kim Jongkook ended up producing his own first solo album, but his former agency blocked his promotional broadcast activities so it failed. After a break of 2 years, he came out with a second album, without an agency or a M/V. His title track failed to garner success but a side track he incidentally sang became popular, and allowed him to promote again 'til this day. That song is "One Man." Years after Kim Jongkook established a very successful solo career (triple daesang for "Lovable," etc.), in 2010, the former agency head shamelessly asked him to feature for one of their rookie artists. When Kim Jongkook turned down the request b/c of conflicting circumstances, the head said, "How could you do this to me?" and called him ungrateful. Kim Jongkook cried because all he had wanted to hear was a simple "It was hard on you back then, right? I'm sorry." To add to all this, the reason why Kim Jongkook wore sunglasses for most of his Turbo promos was because the agency said he was ugly and if he dared to take them off, they would disband the group. And when Turbo went to America to film their M/V for "Tonight," the agency used Mikey's car w/o his permission for a car-repair scene and badly damaged the car. The agency didn't pay for damages, and Kim Jongkook stepped up to buy Mikey a new car (reminder that Turbo was paid pretty much nothing despite success in album sales). Kwak Seungnam, who almost became a Turbo member, said Turbo was famous for the excessive time they spent practicing and admitted he couldn't have withstood it all. A week before Turbo's comeback, Kim Jongkook practiced too much w/o rest, fainted from a herniated disc, and was hospitalized. This was all caught on cam because a comedian was hosting a hidden camera special on Turbo. Kim Jongkook was forced to stand back on stage after 10 days and had a pained expression while dancing; he ended up fainting after a performance. His herniated disc got worse only 4 days since treatment and kept worsening. This is the main reason why he's so obsessed with health training; he started for rehab purposes and maintains it to keep his herniated disc in check. This severe case of herniated disc he got from his Turbo days was why he failed to qualify for active army service. And because of Kim Jongkook's "healthy" image established from his X-Man days, the public found this news ridiculous and he received an unbelievable amount of hate. His nickname was "Public Service Kim," his image took a downturn, and he accumulated so many antis, as they were not aware of his condition. However, he still gets hate today for this because many netizens still aren't aware (or are just bitter and don't care). Kim Jongkook's father's occupation is a solider, so Kim Jongkook was just as upset with the health exam results. In a 2008 interview, he said, "If I could just go back in time to that moment, I would've used whatever possible method or connection to force my way into active service." In his 2015 Healing Camp interview, he said, "I could accept all criticism about not having gone into active service, but it was hard to [lie and] say that my back doesn't hurt." Kim Jongkook still frequents the hospital for check-ups because he gets painful muscle spasms to this day. Even now (on Infinity Challenge), Kim Jongkook "jokingly" says he left his former agency because of the food, likely because he's still afraid of the aftermath if he reveals the full truth. (He's only brought it up on Strong Heart that one person from his old agency blocked his solo album but he chose to be very vague about the details. Rewatch it, and you'll see how cautious he is when talking about it.) Last reminder that Kim Jongkook was only 19 years old when he debuted and suffered all this abuse. Point of this post is just to put it out there, that he deserves so much more respect than he already gets because he's been through SO MUCH and got to where he is now all alone with practically the world against him. His motto, people (for dramatic effect haha): "Everything will turn out fine if I remain upright!" (source)
KPOP LOOK ALIKE (MALE EDITION)
Okay guys and girls. I know there are many many doppelganger** out there. But this is solely based on my opinion. These are my thoughts on who looks a like for male Kpop idols. I am just naming a few, and some may be more than 2 people. And, yes, it's a long list. Please read through it lol or go at least go through the pictures. Pretty please? ** Doppelganger - an apparition or double of a living person. B.A.P DAEHYUN & GOT7 JR Gosh, now I know another reason why one is my bias and the other is my bias wrecker! BTOB MINHYUK & BTS JUNGKOOK This is completely my opinion! I know a lot of people say they don't look a like. But for them I got them so confused! Even though I was a BTOB fan before BTS, I still got them confused. My sister laughed at me a lot because of it lol BLOCK B ZICO & WINNER SEUNG YOON Allkpop or Koreaboo (one or the other) brought my attention to Zico and Seung Yoon. I'm not a huge WINNER fan so I don't really know the members but Zico and Seung Yoon do look alike. B1A4 BARO & VIXX RAVI & WINNER MINO I was surprised at Ravi. I didn't think he looked like either Baro or Mino until Google lol. Also, guess who's who is the 4th picture! Lol I got so confused! EXO-K BAEKHYUN & BTS V Widely known to look a like. I don't even need to describe anything lol SUPER JUNIOR SUNGMIN & B1A4 SANDEUL They're just the cutest little puppies ever! Even though one's married already. RAIN (BI) & 2PM JUNHO & MBLAQ LEE JOON Well, damn. I was pretty shocked at how much Lee Joon looks like Rain. But I always thought that Junho and Rain looked alike. FT ISLAND HONGKI & MBLAQ MIR Another popular look alike. I can see why though. K.WILL & BIGBANG DAESUNG Lol I cracked up on this one. Idk why :') BEAST JUNHYUNG & BTOB ILHOON I didn't think they looked alike until I started reading some comments saying that they do. INFINITE SUNGYEOL & EXO-M KRIS & CROSS GENE TAKUYA I, personally, didn't think Kris and Sungyeol look very much alike. It wasn't until I saw a photo of Kris upside down looking like Sungyeol. SHINEE ONEW & SONG JOONG KI & LEE WOO-GEON Lmao, when I first watched Sassy Go Go I got really confused. I thought Lee Woo-Geon was Onew for the first like 2 episodes. H.O.T KANGTA & SUPER JUNIOR SIWON & SUPER JUNIOR-M ZHOUMI & EXO-K SUHO & EXO-M TAO I was kinda if-y about this one. I didn't know if Tao and Suho fitted along with Siwon, Kangta and Zhoumi. But I guess? B.A.P HIMCHAN & IKON BOBBY Okay, I also, didn't think they looked a like until BAP came back lol. But now I can see the similarities. U-KISS KEVIN & TEEN TOP CHUNJI For the longest time ever, I always got confused with Kevin and Chunji. Lol, I think it is because I discovered them at the same time. PARK BO-GUM & UP10TION WOOSHIN This tripped me out! I'm a HUGE Park Bo-Gum fan and when I saw Wooshin. I was like "OMGT**!" ** MADTOWN's newest song called "OMGT", Oh My God, Thanks NU'EST REN & SEVENTEEN JEONGHAN Bruhhhhh, do I even have to say it? Everyone [(who's a SEVENTEEN fan (and maybe NU'EST fan)] know that they look alike. SUPER JUNIOR HEECHUL & SEVENTEEN JUN No words for this one. Both sides just has to acknowledge it lol also, Heechul's good at Chinese so he can easily have a conversation with Jun. BTS SUGA & SEVENTEEN WOOZI Tripper here again! When SEVENTEEN first came out we all thought Woozi was a Suga baby. Who can deny it! They look so alike! Also, thei swag runs deep in their family lol. Woozi must've got it all from his daddy Suga and Mommy CL. ___________☆♡~☆♡~☆♡~☆♡☆__________ Sorry for not having as much photos and idols as I wished for. I was limited space. But thanks for stopping by and looking at this card! 여러분 화이팅!!! 사랑해요!!!
Kpop Relatables for every Kpop fan. You do this too, don't lie.
Hey everyone! In honor of today being my birthday starting.. 3 hours ago, I have decided to post these relatable and fun kpop pictures I have found and wanted to share with you all. I wanted to make sure you all got a couple laughs and know that you are absolutely not alone in this community. I just found some of these while I was looking up kpop things( like I always do) and stumbled upon them. Thank you all for always being there and tagging me in things i may like. It always makes me feel wanted and like I'm part of something which is something I have always wanted. If any of you ever want to talk or let me know what you want me to post about, you can always message me or comment, my inbox is always open!! Enjoy guys!!! I'm pretty sure most, if not all of us have done this at one point or another. Even I did it yesterday when I watched the end of the dance for EOEO by Uniq when they are grinding on the floor- yes I literally said "I wish I could be that floor." This is true in a lot of ways. Having a bias sometimes does seem better than having a boyfriend. Having a bias as a boyfriend would be AMAZING!! But also I've set my boyfriend bar so high to match my bias, so that's one reason I will never have a relationship. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ! Am I the only one that does this? Ah eye smiles. They hit you right in the feels! The eye smile isn't iconic just because our idols are so adorable when they do it (although it is a big part of it) but it's that they happiness that shows on their face that makes their smiles huge and their eyes sink away to tiny adorable slits. Haha. I think we can all agree eye smiles are dangerous, heart melting things. Who do you think has the best eye smiles in kpop? ^ㅅ^ This couldn't be more true to me. What people who aren't kpop fans don't understand is, we have all joined together and not just became friends and fellow fans, but we have also become a family who support each other and each other's fandoms. Yet another statement that couldn't be more true. Before kpop, I wouldn't have met so many people both here and outside of the Vingle kpop community. Before someone mentions they like kpop i find it hard to take a lot of interest in them but once the word kpop comes up, I break into my kpop loving self. And a lot of the time, we become friends and continue to stretch kpop love across the world. These quotes just make me smile and are over all inspirational to me. I really enjoy how wise and knowledgable our idols are. They are more than people may think. I've heard people say, "yeah they are good at singing and dancing, but that's all they are good for." But we all know that's not true. Our idols rank high in sports, school, languages, performing and so much more, which makes me happy when I read these amazing words they say in their music and in real life. Being a kpop fan takes a special kind of person. We are able to look past the language barriers, the distance, the age differences, the unnecessary and sometimes hurtful remarks from others and still support and love continue to love Kpop and idols with all our hearts. No matter how hard it may be to be a kpop fan, international or not, we still stick it out and support that Hallyu wave all the way!!! As I said before, we have some of the most wise people as idols. This quote from CL makes me incredibly happy and I couldn't have said this better myself. I get bashed all the time by people I don't know, non-kpop friends and even my family always saying there is no point to listening to music that you can't understand, but what they don't understand is music truly IS universal. You don't have to know the words to a song to be able to jam to it. Honestly, since I'm so used to kpop, even though I can't understand what they are saying, it doesn't seem like a foreign language to me. So there is no point to the hating on kpop music and it's fans, because to us, we can enjoy the music just fine without knowing the words. And we are proud of it!! And yes, I have thought about this a lot before. My parents don't really get why I like kpop, but I even said to them, "it could be worse, I could be drinking, doing drugs, partying and hooking up with guys like most kids my age." But I don't really do that. My social life is just a relationship between me and my cell phone. And all of you of course. I really gotta get out more, but I like staying in and doing nothing. Who else has had this problem where your family just really doesn't get that this is a good thing and you could be doing MUCH worse things? This is just a relatable kpop thing that I thought many of you would know about and have also done. There are so so so many pictures of my biases on my phone of the EXACT SAME PICTURE!! I just never know if I had saved it or not. There are times where I'm like "I know for a fact that I have seen this picture," so I screenshot it and when I go through all of my pictures later on, It turns out I have seen it before (a few times apparently) and thought the same thing back then too, so I have multiples of the same pics. These are just things I feel that I want to happen just because I am a fangirl and I do honestly think I can end up with my bias someday. It's true. There have been times where I needed to focus on my studies so I tried to leave the kpop world and I couldn't even do it for a day, let alone forever. Kpop is just to Fantastic to even try to leave. Once we got you, you ain't ever gonna be able to leave. You're in for life. I've done it. I bet some of you have too. Kpop does take over your world, but it's actually a good thing. Since I became a kpop fan, my life has become better and I've met some really good and dependable people who can relate to me as well. Fangirling is my job though, besides my actual job... Yeah, international fans can relate. Being an international fan, you learn to make it work. One of the things we must make work is the distance and knowing we won't be able to see concerts unless we watch the fancams. And even though it's hard sometimes, fancams are fun to watch because there are so many from so many different angles and shows that it makes being an international fan easier. Find your bias idols and groups! Let me know who is your favorite!! The light stick oceans. "Only in kpop can you see the different colors of the ocean" I love kpop oceans; they are a life goal of mine, and I really hope to get to be in one one day. What about you guys? Have you been in a light stick ocean before? Which ones if so, and if not whose would you want to be in most? And lastly, the things that connect us are not only how crazy we are, but that we are all crazy together. Kpop has the ability to bring different people together and give them something in common that most people can never relate to. It makes me really happy when I randomly think about the people I have met from being into kpop and the thing I have learned. Since I started listening to kpop and learning about korea in general I've learned to be more considerate of people and to try and understand people more for what they like and not judge them for it. Kpop has absolutely changed my life for the better and I can't and don't want to imagine what my life would be like without it.
