How do you celebrate this time of year?
The holidays are kind of a frenzy for me. There's a lot of (boring) work that needs to get done, and lots of people to check in with and gifts to prepare. So a lot of traditions tend to get a little lost. But I have a few that are really special to me that I'd like to share with all of you!
This card is for the Holiday Challenge created by @felicityautumn ! It's so we can all talk about our favorite (or weird) traditions we have for this time of year.
Nobody gets left behind
This one started in college and kind of grew from there. Not everyone was able to go home for Christmas break (and some peoples' families didn't celebrate the holiday anyway) but nobody should feel left out this time of year. Which is why everyone who can't visit family is always invited to dress up like superheroes and get raging drunk while we wait for Santa. (I didn't want to share a pic of us without everyone's permission, so use the above to fuel your imagination).
We remember where we came from
I was a really young kid when all of my grandparents passed, so my memories of them are from a kid's eyes and I never got to know them as an adult. But we try to keep their memory alive. Especially with recipes! Everyone in my family was a great cook, and my grandma's cookies make an appearance every year. We usually make like 10 kinds and end up eating them through the new year.
Take comfort in the good things
My parents got divorced when I was a teenager, and holidays were always a little rough after that. They both did their best, but there's no avoiding how much that can suck. So I usually spend a lot of time during the holidays enjoying the things that I love, that remind me that family is what you make of it. Which often means a lot of Marvel fanfiction. What can I say? It's my refuge.
Who else has weird traditions?
I'm not really one of those people that watches Christmas specials or does anything in particular. I just want to spend time with the people I love. And maybe get some socks without holes in them (wow, child me is probably very appalled right now). What do you all do this time of year Marvelers?
