I am not a huge anime buff, but one that I have seen is called 'Kuragehime' (or 'Princess Jellyfish'), a josei anime about a girl named Tsukimi and her group of equally eclectic (read: nerdy) friends. She had a life-long obsession with jellyfish and hearing her talk about how incredible they are over a span of several episodes had me kind of wanting one too.
Needless to say, when I read about the start-up company, Jellyfish Art, I was all sorts of excited. For about $250 - 400, the company will ship an LED fishtank, plenty of food, and 1 - 3 medium-sized moon jellyfish anywhere in the States.
Yes, the days of the goldfish are officially over.
According to the company's official website, each moon jellyfish lives roughly one year - although, if you are careful enough, they might even be able to live for two. (This is just enough time to give them cute albeit kitschy little jellyfish names before fate and the inevitability of time tears them away from you.)
You can mainly order your jellyfish on their official website, but with many different locations across the United States, you might even be able to swing by a Jellyfish Art partnered pet store to pick a jelly up just in time for Christmas.
So what do you think? Do YOU want a pet jellyfish?
