"Video games are violent" My Film Professor said to me as I proposed a critique of Mass Effect as an example of video games as an art form. I was flabbergasted, mouth agape I said, "You sir are a dream of teeth falling out of a raccoon's mouth" then he proceeded to fall over laughing and told me I could write about whatever I wanted.
None of that happened. But! I wish it did. I'm one of those people who can't think of anything witty or cool to say as it's happening but once the thing is done happening I can think of all of the cool things to say. And by cool things I mean witty insults. And by witty insults I mean words so sharp, they'll cut you to literal pieces.
And it seems like Oh... Sir! gives that to us. Maybe not as literal as my dreams would hope for. But it is a game where you attack your enemies using your words. Using your insane, insane words.
And after watching the gameplay video [above] it looks like a crazy person's version of Mad Libs mixed with a fighting game. There are a bunch of differetn options to choose from and I guess if you get the right combination of dumb things to say to your opponent, you'll take more points away from their health bar.
It's a silly, interesting concept and looks like it would be fun to play at a weird party where everyone plays video games. You know, the ones you see on YouTube that only seem to exist on the West Coast where everyone plays video games and they're all handsome hipsters with glasses and/or scarves depending on the weather.
I just don't know how grating the insult of my hamster never seeing Star Wars actually is but I can assure you, sir, that my hamsters (yes, plural) have all seen Star Wars at least 3 times. Getting them into the theater to watch the new one, though, seems to be a hard task. I'll get back to you as soon as I figure that one out.
Oh... Sir is available now on Steam.
