If you struggle with breathing, especially after a night of sleep, it may be because of something right under your nose...
your bed sheets!
Dust mites, a common allergy trigger, love to hang out in bedding. Luckily, there are a couple super-easy, super-fast ways to get rid of those bad boys.
Tips for An Allergy-Free Bed:
1. Wash blankets, sheets, and pillowcases weekly in hot water – over 130°F, according to WebMD. That should get the little buggers!
2. Put dust mite-proof covers on everything: your mattress, box spring, pillows, and even comforter. This is especially important for mattresses and blankets that aren't brand new – they can harbor all kinds of allergens!
3. Vacuum regularly – again, you can make this a weekly thing. If your dust allergies are bad, consider wearing a dust mask while you do so to avoid breathing in whatever the vacuum cleaner kicks up.
Breathe easy this winter – follow these tips and consider investing in a humidifier if the air in your room is getting a little dry. :)
