After the Sun
After the Sun
We left the cars going their own way
And we walked down the hill
To the dunes where we let our feathers
Splay in the sun of midday
And we lay on our backs in a stagnate
Parade 'till the overhead shook
With irresolute Dreams, the wishes
Seldom made by anyone with
Caution or common sense--
But we let both fly as tho
Our souls had leaped out
From our shaking fingers
And returned to the mountains
With the wolves and the forests
Of uncut trees-- leaving our bodies
Here, automatons soaking up
The Tired Sun.
