I figured I would start off this week's Jump Ahead January cards with a shout-out to one of my favorite comedies, 'The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'! Netflix has announced that season two will be available to stream on April 15th - which cannot come fast enough for fans of the show!
(As of this week, it's also been renewed for a third season, so you KNOW that second season is going to be worth the year-long wait we've been giving it.)
Here are some things I hope happen in Season 2:
The reprise of Kimmy and Dong's relationship!
2015 was an incredible year for Ki Hong Lee's career, and I think he can definitely owe some of that to his portrayal of Dong Nguyen. I know that this role has come with a whole lot of controversy, but Ki Hong has really been able to defend it in the media with grace.
(Also, it'll be interesting to see if Tina Fey is able to take some of last season's feedback and tone down the racist humor in the script!)
Pinot Noir, Part 2?
Kimmy's roommate, Tituss Andromedon, seriously stole some of the greatest episodes of Season One - like the time he crashed a stranger's funeral and when he and Lillian record his musical ode to a certain black, uh, appendage called 'Pinot Noir'. Can we please get a 'Pinot Noir, Part 2'? Because that would be amazing.
Even more Xanthippe's text message battles.
One of the first 'enemies' of Season 1 presented themselves in the form of Xanthippe Lannister Voorhees, the spoiled daughter of Kimmy's boss. Love her or hate her, I thought she was seriously hilarious, especially when she and her friends would text message each other in ridiculous emoji code.
SO. MANY. GUEST STARS.
Tina Fey has already confirmed three guest stars we can expect in the third season: Pitch Perfect's Anna Camp, Girls' Zosia Mamet, and Tina Fey herself! I'm really excited to see what these ladies bring to the table as far as plot and where the writers will fit them into the story. (Anna is rumored to play Jacqueline's sister, but I'm personally hoping she'll play Kimmy's rival - a newer, shinier personal assistant!)
So who else out there is looking forward to Season 2 of 'Kimmy Schmidt'?
Let me know in the comments below what your favorite moments of LAST season were - or maybe your predictions for what will happen THIS time around! (And to continue celebrate 2016 in comedy with me, look forward to more of the Funny Community's Jump Ahead January cards!)
