It's Jump-Ahead January and you know what that means [and if you don't know what it means it's just like me being all "yo, this thing is hype, let's get hype." So, the thing that's hype today (well only one of the things that's hype) is the trailer that came out earlier this morning for Far Cry Primal.
Before the trailer, I was unsure of what the game was actually about. I wasn't sure how it would work or what the storyline was. But it looks like it's definitely a Far Cry game. I don't know if that makes sense. I mean look at the previous games, they all center around a guy who is solely responsible for making the place good again. I mean, for real. I don't know how else to describe the plots of these games.
And sure maybe I'm forgetting some of intricacies of the narrative but who cares about that? I mean, there's a bow, some arrows, and some animals to shoot and people to save. That's Far Cry in a nutshell.
And the trailer really proves that point. It's all on one man who drinks someone's brains and eyeballs at the beginning who is destined for greatness (or something, I'm unsure). Alright, alright. I'll be honest. I don't really give a fuck about the story of this game. I just want to shoot arrows into people's necks and watch them bleed.
Does that make me a bad guy/robot? I don't know. I don't think so. That's all these games are. So what if the Far Cry games aren't doing anything "new" and "exciting" in terms of gameplay mechanics or narrative. At least they're giving us new environments where we can impale people. I'm glad it's not another military shooter.
All that said though, I'll be picking this one up when it comes out.
Far Cry Primal will be in stores on February 23rd, 2016.
