Monday, February 8th--EVERY CHIPOTLE ACROSS THE US WILL BE CLOSED.
That's because the company finally decided that it was a good idea to train EVERY CHIPOTLE EMPLOYEE good, proper, safe and legal food-handling. While the staggering measure of closing every location for one day seems serious, tell that to the HUNDREDS of people who have been sick and even hospitalized since 2012 when dining at a Chipotle restaurant.
Despite co-CEO, Steve Ell's sorry lament to the media where he pretty much said they did nothing wrong and that their food-handling practices “met or exceeded industry standards," that's not what the medical papers are saying.
If you thought this was just one case of Salmonella, you'd be very wrong. Here's a rundown of foreign hazard material that made it's way into the food at Chipotle:
* E. Coli
Shares for the fast food chain have taken a battering, plummeting 47%. That's a lot of value! Almost 50%. If Chipotle is unable to weather this storm, they could foresee store closures and executive replacement.
Until this gets settled, I am quite happy with my Baja Fresh, where the guacomole is always free!
