This is such a great ending to an incredibly weird, but wonderful story. This is one of those stories that seems like it should be on the Onion (or another satire news source), but it's real and it's amazing.
A cow that didn't want to become dinner. That's the motivation behind this story. On Thursday, a cow escaped a slaughterhouse in Queens. The cow was scheduled to be killed Thursday evening, and he just wasn't having it. Instead of being killed and becoming dinner, the cow decided escaping was the best decision. After about an hour of roaming the streets in Queens, the cow was cornered in a parking garage and was captured.
Saving the cow.
This is where the story gets really good. An animal sanctuary in New Jersey heard about the escaped cow and decided to try to save the cow from being slaughtered, with only hours to spare. The deal was difficult because the cow had already been sold to a family. The family finally, reluctantly decided to give the cow to the sanctuary and the cow was saved!
The cow is now named Freddie, after Freddie Mercury of the rock band, Queen. Freddie is now going through a thorough medical exam to make sure that he is healthy. He might be quarantined, and then he will join 18 other cows and other animals at the Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Sussex County, New Jersey.
Great ending to a crazy story!
