Before reading on, ask yourself this. Would I approach and start up a conversation with the man in the picture above? It is likely that the answer to that question came out as a no. If not, it could be due to his black clothes (a sign of authority,) his look of determination, or just the fact that he looks clean and sharp. But for the majority, your first instinct was a no. He has his arms folded! So what? Who cares if his arms are folded? You do! If your first thought to the question was that you wouldn't approach him, you are picking up this body cue. At parties or in social gatherings, it is unwise to cross your arms. Period.
