Just to be clear, this isn't a game I've given up on. Just a game that I know I'll never fully 'complete'.
I still think that now, though probably more so.
I just recently picked up Arkham Knight, 'cause it was on sale, and I honestly have to say it's my favorite game in the Arkham trilogy. I loved the first game and I felt like they did well in the second game, and now it just rings home truer in the final chapter.
The story is immersive and well-developed, many of the side quests are fulfilling and actually make me feel like I should be completing them. I'm still not quite finished with the main story, but I'm close.
I love almost everything so far about the game. I've heard various bellyaches from friends or from the internet, but a lot of it doesn't bug me because I got it on sale with the season pass, so I wasn't bummed by the DLC.
But if there's one reason I'll never get the golden Batsuit, it's these fucking things.
God. Damned. Riddler. Trophies.
In order to 100% the game (the first step towards that 240%, I'm told) you need to collect every one of the two hundred and forty-three riddler trophies spread throughout Gotham.
For real, Rocksteady? Come the fuck on. I'm so tired of games doing this stuff, this little scavenger hunt nonsense. It's one thing when it's like ~50 of an item, but another thing entirely when they ask for an absurd amount of it.
Like, I feel no compulsion to go and do that, except for the empty accolade of a minorly different suit, featuring an emblem that I will barely even see in the gameplay, because Arkham Knight is an over-the-shoulder third person character action game.
I have fun taking down the Penguin, Man-Bat, and Two-Face, ebcause those all have tangible, understandable mission sequences. The fact that I need all the riddler trophies before I can take on the weird robo-Riddler is bonkers. Too bonkers even for Batman, I'd say. Definitely too bonkers for me.
Sorry, Golden Batsuit. I'll stick with the Batman Beyond skin. It's cooler anyway.
