This is a great gift to give a significant other or best friend who lives far away. You can also make this mug for yourself as a reminder of where your roots are. This DIY tutorial comes from the wonderfully creative people at Artzy Creations.
For this project, you will need:
-- A plain white mug
-- State outline (you can print this off of the Internet)
-- Black porcelain paint
-- Black paint marker
-- Small paintbrush
-- Washi or masking tape
You can find all of these items at a craft store.
Tape the state outline
Print off whatever state you want, cut it out and use the washi or masking tape to tape the cutout to the mug, as shown in the picture above. I recommend putting the tape on the back of the state rather than on the outside so that way you won't have any gaps in your tracing from where the tape is.
Draw the outline
Use the paint marker to trace around the outline of the state.
Fill in the state
Use the paintbrush and porcelain paint to fill in the outline of the state. Make sure you leave a space for where you want the heart to be. Use the paint marker to draw the heart and fill in around the heart.
Voila! Enjoy your cute, personalized mug or give it as a gift!
