The Astros may have just gotten the steal of the off-season in free agency.
According to ESPN, the Houston Astros just added Doug Fister in a one-year contract offer earlier this week.
From 2011 to 2014, Doug Fister may have been the most underrated pitcher in the majors.
Fister posted a 3.11 ERA in those four seasons -- lower than Verlander's mark and nearly equal to Strasburg's 3.03 mark. While Doug Fister isn't an ace, he has proven to be an extremely reliable and steady 3rd arm in a rotation. When attempting to make a deep playoff run, having a guy you can hand the ball to outside of your top two arms is extremely valuable to a team.

Does the addition of Doug Fister make the Houston Astros a legitimate World Series contender?

Nah....other teams have made a lot more additions. I feel like for the NL, it's going to be San Fran or Cubs, and for the AL it's going to be the Royals or the Yankees in the World Series.
