Should The Wolves Fire Head Coach Sam Mitchell
The Timberwolves are in the midst of rebuilding the franchise, but it seems as if fans and critics aren't happy with the product they are putting on floor at the moment.
Looking to end the rumors of a player-coach divide in the locker room, Minnesota vet Kevin Garnett spoke to the media this week to express support for interim head coach and former teammate Sam Mitchell and the direction the 14-35 Wolves are headed.
“I feel real good about the progression of this team since Day 1 and I think it needs to be said and needs to be understood that I’m endorsing Sam Mitchell and our coaching staff and this organization,” he said. “More importantly, I’m excited about our future. I’m excited about our young players. I feel like we’re getting better. These last 10, 15 games, we’ve gotten better. You see it and I think that needs to be said. I think you all need to understand we’re supportive around here.”
He later spoke up for the rest of the team, saying "I want you guys to understand that not only do I endorse Sam Mitchell, but the other players do, too,” Garnett said. “We believe not only in him, but the system and what we’re trying to do here. I think everybody needs to understand that.”
At the moment, the Wolves are 14-35 and on a five game losing streak. They have a very nice young core of talent comprised of Andrew Wiggins, Ricky Rubio, Zach Lavine and Karl Anthony Towns. They also have a solid group of veterans surrounding the team. It is evident watching them that something is missing though, and a trade may be in store to not only clear up space for the other young assets they have, but to add a piece that meshes with this lineup better. While Garnett has endorsed Mitchell, it also seems as if Sam has struggled with finding the right rotations this year for the team.

Do you think the Timberwolves are heading in the right direction as a franchise player-wise?

I think they should keep him at least until the end of the year to see what progress he makes with the team.
