Korean Grammar: Uh, Adverbs?

Adverbs are great!

He ran quickly
I shouted loudly
She kindly gave me a free sample
They greeted me warmly
(Why do I come up with weird examples?)

ANYWAY - Adverbs are cool! And they're super easy to make in Korean!

It's 3 easy steps:

Take the adjective in its original verb form:

행복하다
맛 있다
예쁘다

Drop the 다!

행복하
맛 있
예쁘

Add 게!

행복하게
맛 있게
예쁘게

Now add it to a sentence (right in front of the verb its describing)

행복하게 놀아요 - Happily played

(haeng-bok-ha-ge nol-a-yo)

맛 있게 먹었어요 - Ate deliciously

(mash-eet-ge meok-eoss-eo-yo)
(sounds weird but its common in Korean!)

예쁘게 입어요 - Get dress prettily

(ye-ppeu-ge i-beo-yo)
(It's like "dress up nice")

Check out this song to really get the hang of it...

Start listening at 0:16!

예쁘게 입고

(yep-eu-geh ip-go)

"Get dressed prettily..."

나와

(nah-wah)
"and come out!"

What's your favorite adverb? (in Korean or English^^)
