{Throwback Thursdays} Week 4: Slam Dunk
Hi everyone! Here's to a magnificent anime and manga that in my opinion set the Stage for Sports animes! Slam Dunk was not the first sports I watched but I still really love this anine because of its raw and grit look of the art.
This anime first aired in Japan in Oct 1993-Mar 1996 with 101 ep. The manga was first serialized in 1990 and continued for 31 vol and ended jn 1996. Toei Animation took care of this anime. It was directed Nobutaka Nishizawa.
Takehiko Inoue first debuted as an mangka for Shonen Jump with Purple Kaede in 1988. He also known for his other works like Buzzer Beater and Vagabond. Buzzer Beater is about this team of earth basketball players playing in the galaxies. Vagabond is about events based on the samurai Miyamoto Musashi.
For those who havent seen Slam Dunk, it is about the protagonist, Hanamichi Sakuragi, who is a school delinquent who tries out for the basketball team because of a cute girl. X3 He has some real protential and soon becomes a really strong player! He makes some rivals and members rejoin the team and they eventually grow together as a team and work very hard to wins all those games! As you can see its very serious and intense and there are those comedic scenes that you can't help but love! XD
