These distressed Valentine's Day mason jars are a great way to add a touch of love to your decorations in your living space. This DIY tutorial comes from the creative people at Mason Jar Crafts Love.
For this project, you will need:
-- Mason jars
-- White, pink and red acrylic craft paint
-- Small paintbrush or toothpick
-- Washi tape or painter's tape
-- Sandpaper (this tutorial used 80 grit)
You can find all of these items at a craft store.
Paint the mason jars
Use the paintbrush and paint to paint a base coat on the mason jars. Let the paint completely dry before moving to the next step.
Make vertical stripes
Put washi tape or painter's tape in vertical stripes on the mason jar, as shown in the picture above. Then, use a paintbrush to paint on the pink color. Allow the paint to completely dry. (The washi tape, when removed, will remove some of the paint. If you want, you can retouch it a little bit or you can leave it like it is for a more distressed look.)
Distress the paint
Use the sandpaper and rub it all over the mason jar to give the painted mason jar a distressed look.
Take a small paintbrush or toothpick and paint on red hearts all over the mason jar, as shown in the picture above.
Fill the cute mason jars with flowers or candy and enjoy!
